Supposedly we are offering a 2nd and a 3rd. I can live with that.

Anything involving a 1st and change.... well.... I'm not overly keen on.

Looks like you've added Roy Williams. Shit. I'm hoping Jerruh panicked as the deadline neared and splurged with a first rounder.

He's staying put. I think the Giants' best offer was Sinorice Moss and 5th, and the Chiefs were looking for a first day pick.

Detroit lucked out nicely. As a Giants fan, I wholeheartedly approve of this trade.

I like it. I had come to terms with giving up a first for Roy for some time now. Double RW FTW!!

oh yeah, fuck you Crayton! :D

    My initial thought is overpaid.

And I am pretty sure we did in fact overpay.

I thought a 2nd and 3rd was ok. Its basically the equivalent of a low 1st rounder. Which I was ok with.

The good news.... Roy should theoretically be a #1 WR. We needed a young #1 in the near future with Owens getting up there. This deal, for it to work... Williams has to be that kind of WR. Not necessarily an Owens... but a #1 WR. If that's the case, the deal is ok and I can live with it. Especially considering for the next several years Owens and Roy Williams are now a WR tandem.

But if Williams doesn't improve in Dallas... its overpaying out the ass.

I'm hoping its a similar case as Leonard Davis. A desire to get out of a crappy situation, surrounded by crap, and will shine in a new place. Its not unreasonable to think its possible. Roy did have a 1000 yard season and was on his way another season and would have easily eclipsed that had he not been hurt.

Roy needs to be that kind of guy.

Crayton moves to the slot, where he is most effective. That's why Austin goes outside when we run 3 WR sets.

Remember the Owens, Glenn, Crayton trio mixed with Witten.

    Think that.

and detroit got great value for him, although i guess they could have franchised him. but yeah his days of being remotely happy/motivated in detroit were gone forever, might as well get as good of a deal as you can.

Different scenario, though I understand your point.

We just lost Irvin. We still had Troy and Emmitt (at the end of their careers). Jerry made a Super Bowl push with the trade. I don't blame him. It made a lot of sense. I can't remember; either Troy got hurt or Galloway got hurt. I think Galloway got hurt... then Troy retired later with the concussion injury (the following year?)

    That's why it failed.

I'm perfectly okay with this trade, so long as we manage to wrap up Williams for long term.

This also assumes he plays more like the Roy Williams of the past couple years instead of the way he's played this year.

I personally don't think we'll see the true impact of this trade until Romo is back and healthy. Once he is though, god does our offense look scary. Romo, TO, Williams, Witten, Barber, Crayton, Felix....that's A LOT of weapons right there to give defensive coordinators headaches.

Speaking of Romo...hopefully this gives him some incentive to try and get back quicker. We're going to need him back ASAP if we want to make a run for the division.
