Mixx... the purpose of this, the Marino thread, and the other Romo Blows thread... Is to show you just how prolific Romo has been. Despite his flaws, he has been the most prolific passer in our franchise.... a franchise that includes 2 HOF QBs, and a very good one in Danny White. Meridith wasn't that bad either. Ultimately, in Dallas... success will be viewed on whether or not he wins a Super Bowl. The problem is, to win a Super Bowl requires a total team effort. The Giants really hammered that point home last year. Manning could have had a career day against the Patriots, but if the Giants DL didn't play the way it did, it could have been for in a losing effort. Romo's been getting backlash lately... even from Cowboy fans. I expect it from other fans because we are Dallas, Romo does get talked about a lot, and there is some natural resentment as a result. Not one of which Romo can do anything about. Remember the struggle we had in trying to replace Aikman? Hutchinson, Carter, Stoerner, Leaf (even), Henson, Wright, etc... We finally got our guy. Enjoy it while it lasts. Because it won't last forever.
Yep they brought it up on Sportscenter too. The stats that have him top-3 in those categories go back to his first career start. Not too shabby.
If he had the required 1500 attempts to qualify.... right now, he'd be the highest rated QB in NFL history.
So 2 years in a row chocking in the playoffs where, it's more important then any regular season games, doesn't put you in the category "SUCK"? Tony Romo deserves to be in that category.
He "choked" in the Seattle playoff game. And by that, I mean, he didn't throw the ball well. The "hold" doesn't mean anything as far as QB play goes. And if you think Romo was the reason we lost the Giants game, well, this discussion is headed nowhere. Fast.
If he leads the team to a Superbowl, he doesn't suck. A "sucking QB" cannot lead their team to the Superbowl. Therefore, if he leads the team to a Superbowl....(you can take over from here!)
So does that mean Peyton Manning "sucked" before he won the Super Bowl? What about John Elway? How about Brett Favre? Were they all sucky QBs until they finally won it all. Winning the Super Bowl is going to be on the shoulders of more than one person. You're justification for thinking he sucks is absolutely pathetic.
wait so win or superbowl or you suck? what the hell does that make Trent Dilfer then? how about the very overated Dallas D that gives up long drives and more importantly points. Like 22 points to a struggling Bengals team, 17 points in the 3rd quarter to the Cardinals?? that's where I believe the problem lies with the Boys. The offensive line didn't look to shit hot vs the Cards either. Romo was constantly scrambling.
The defense has looked like garbage all year. I don't know what their deal is. They have the talent, they just need to start making the plays and getting some damn stops. The offensive line has looked like shit ALL year, not just last game. Romo has had to scramble more than what he should have to, he's been getting pressured WAY too much. For an offensive line that's supposed to be one of the best in the NFL, they've really looked like shit. If Romo has had to scramble a lot just to prevent from getting killed....imagine what's going to happen when we have Brad "I'm a fucking statue" Johnson in the pocket. Unless they remove their heads from their asses, Johnson's going to be in for a long day on a weekly basis.
Johnson will get rid of the ball: he doesn't have the arm strength to run a vertical offense. The ball will come out quicker. The loss of Kosier has been huge. Look at how the OL has played this year versus last year. Get well soon Kosier. OL has been inconsistent. Looked good against Cleveland, Philly, and Green Bay. Its gotten worse though...
His just a mediocre quarterback, face it Giants defense helped win that Superbowl game. And Cowboys don't have that! You can't let teams like Bengals and Cardinals jack up 20+ points on us and expect us to be good on defense.
Well you should be happy with Romo's injury then. You get to replace him with a Super Bowl winner and clearly superior QB in Brad Johnson.
