Why should he take a paycut? Players who want to play alongside him should be the ones taking a paycut.

that would have him making like 30 million at 36 years old.

They would have some options I believe. Front load his deal, give him a V shaped deal, or a fixed amount per season similar to the deal Shaq took with Miami at $20M per year for 5 years.

Should be interesting to see if Kupchak can find any loopholes and structure a new deal to keep the team out of potential salary cap hell.

Edit: Forgot to mention, there was a rumor Kobe might get a percentage of ownership similar to the deal Magic Johnson has with the Lakers.

Give it to him. He's earned it. With the way he keeps himself in condition, barring any major injuries, he'll be damn productive throughout the contract.

I'm with everyone on here. Kobe has earned this paycheck (and every one he has made so far). I mean granted, it would be cool if he took a paycut, but give it to him.

Kobe is one of the view superstars who is "underpayed" at his "maxed out" deal. Kobe deserves a pay raise given everything he's done for the franchise. Although I would love to see him take a paycut, I don't mind him cashing in, because he's the only guy on the roster that you know will earn every single penny.

I think alot of the stars are underpaid if you consider how much some players get (ie. Mikki Moore. Kenny Thomas, and some others) for not doing anything.

Nah I like Mikki Moore. Everytime I see him he reminds me of those homeless guys you might find in LA. Also, he talked shit to Kobe last year in Sacramento when the Kings were beating us, and pissed off Kobe, which obviously wasn't a good idea because we ended up winning. But I like the fact that a homeless man has enough balls to stand up to Kobe. He's cool! :dancepenguin:

That and my sister lives in Jersey, so we drove to see her there before the tournament started

Correction: She DID live in New Jersey, graduated from Mizzou and is a news anchor in that area.
