Well, basicly it is over. Aws a life long Lion fan, shuld I hope they lose so we get the number one pick, or shuld they win as many games as they can, and screw up there draft spot.

    Tough loss the other day.

You can still look forward to smaller things; like the progression of Calvin, Cherilus, and other young players needed for the rebuilding. You can always look forward to the demise of division rivals. And above all, you can begin looking at players in college that you'd like to see in Detroit.

Oh.. and you can watch your two young QBs and see if you have anything there...

    Stafford is a better prospect.

We need O-Line guys or D-Line guys or Linebackers, or Saftey's we dont need no QB, we will get that next year when Lefeaver (Central Michigan) comes out.

Its supposed to be another good crop of OTs coming out again. Not sure about the DL, but I've been told its pretty solid as well.

First, I want to see Drew Stanton for the rest of year, find out weather or not he is our QB of the future. If he isn't, I don't see why we couldn't draft a QB with our #1 pick (It's on lock), and address our O-Line with the Cowboys 1st rounder and the other plethora of picks we will have in this year's draft. I understand our secondary, D-Line and other areas need help as well, but I really want to see us draft a QB to set us in the direction of rebuilding.

Maybe even make another trade for more picks?

We need to address the Oline first, becouse whoever is QB'ing for us will be running for his life.

You guys are going to have a boatload of a picks. You need to make a haul of it like Kansas did. Get that OL solves; perhaps even QB with your 1st rounder.

How has your rookie OT played?

Short answer is Gooster is playing like shit, we are 0-6 and Kitna has a bad back. The Right side of the line last game was a revolving door. Rod had to bench him and the guard.

Im not ready to give up on him, he is only a rookie.

ALLEN PARK -- Detroit Lions rookie Gosder Cherilus was benched during last week's game, and he did not like it one bit.

When asked what he did wrong to merit the demotion in Detroit's 12-10 loss to the Minnesota Vikings, Cherilus said, "Nothing that I can think of."

It's not that the right tackle thought he was playing an exceptionally good game, but he thought he was holding his own.

"I went back and saw the film and saw all the great things that I did and some of the things that I could've done better. I'm still working on them," said Cherilus, who was Detroit's first-round draft pick this year. "Like I said, it's a long season and it's my first year here. We're not winning, so all types of things are going to happen. I'm sure if we were winning, things might've been different.

"I don't know that for sure, but the one thing I know is that I went out there and gave it my best and played very, very hard. I don't have anything to be ashamed about."

When asked if he was angry after the game, Cherilus said, "I was more upset that we were robbed. We had a chance to win the game and we didn't."

Offensive coordinator Jim Colletto said Cherilus will not start this week when the Lions (0-5) take on the Houston Texans (1-4). George Foster, who has been benched five times in the past 21 games, including once this season, will start in place of Cherilus.

Colletto said Cherilus has taken a step back.

"It happened on the first play of the game, the guy ran right over him," Colletto said. "He's got to get used to the level and the tempo of the guys he's playing against every week. It's different than college -- you don't line up against Jared Allens every time. You've got to understand that every Sunday in this league there's somebody pretty good lined up on you. That will come with experience."

Cherilus said he has not voiced his displeasure to the coaching staff about being benched.

"Sometimes, working hard isn't good enough. You've got to do the little things," he said. "That's not my call. I'll leave that to upstairs. They made the decision they felt was best for the team, so that's what I'm going to go with. If I've got something to say, I'm going to go say it to them, not the media."

Lions coach Rod Marinelli said Cherilus struggled with inside moves by Minnesota's defensive linemen.

"Sometimes, it's just technique, it's hand placement, over-setting a guy, and that beats him inside. It's not talent, it's nothing like that. It's just a young guy trying to learn, and we got beat inside a little bit," Marinelli said.

He added Cherilus has responded well at practice: "This guy is a stud. You have to be resilient, man, in those tackle spots. You have to be resilient out there -- come back alive every week."

It is not unusual for young tackles to have problems with outside speed rushers who also have a good combination of inside moves.

"You're thinking speed. And they show you and sell you that speed and you build to that speed because you like to wheel them around, and then the countermoves get you. You just get nervous," Marinelli said. "You have to trust your technique and your inside hand has to stop that countermove. It's that speed, and the first thing you want to do is bail out of there."

Cherilus refuses to use his inexperience at dealing with inside counter moves as an excuse.

"No, if you do what you're supposed to do, everything will take care of itself," he said. "I'm here to help this team out. I just want to put myself in a good position and it's a long season. There's a lot to learn."

Cherilus said all he wants is another shot to get back into the starting lineup.

"That's what (all players) want, but that's not my call," he said. "I can only put my best product on the field, and if it's not good enough, I've just got to keep going."

The Lions need a new start with every position. Didn't they trade Williams?
