I think Kobe is far better than the guy in bold. Oscar Robertson on the other hand was far better than Kobe. I agree about Stockton. If I were to argue about a player that never won a championship, it would be Barkley. He isn't the all time leader in anything that I know of.
hey i was typing it up quick. Barkley's numbers are very solid, 22 and 11, 54% from the field as well as 3.9 apg & 1.5 spg as a PF 23,000+ career points, 12,500+ career rebounds and best of all his playoff averages go up to 23 and 13 and keeps the 3.9 apg and 1.5 spg looking at the stat geek stats, his per is 24.6 and 24.2 in the playoffs and his TS% is a whopping .612 in the regular season and drops down to a very solid .584 for the playoffs. those are some very good numbers. Any player who put up big numbers and then bigger numbers in the playoffs and stepped up his game, is a great IMO.
Well of course if you look at a career a lot of those guys are better than Kobe, he hasn't had a full career yet. But KG? Are you serious? I love KG but how has his career been better than Kobes? He has been out of the 1st round twice! Kobe has been to the finals 5 times, and both have an MVP.
Also keep in mind that by not having Shaq on that list you are also saying that guys like Scottie Pippen, KG, Barkley, etc are better than Shaq all time. Edit: Also how the fuck is Isiah Thomas better than Kobe?
whoops, I meant to have shaq in there, just got ahead of myself. i did that in like 5 mins off the top of my head. p.s. did you see Isiah play in the 80's? he carried the Pistons to the first title and they don't even make the finals the 3 times without him. He's the older version of Chris Paul, killer scorer who gets his team mates involved and then finishes the game himself. Underated defender too, very smart player. KG has 20,000 pts and 11,000 rebounds, and a few years left to add to that. Not many ppl have that. Toss in 4.4. apg, 1.5 spg, 1.7 bpg a title and an MVP and being one of the better defenders of this decade I consider him worthy of being there. Kobe was in 5 finals, 4 with Shaq, after Shaq left the Lakers fell way off with Kobe running things which is comperable to what KG did with little to no talent around him. give it 2-3 yrs Kobe will most likley move into the top 20.
how so? Wilt was the better player hands down. Russell was on the better teams. quick example, Wilt grabbing 55 rebounds vs the Celtics and Russell
p.s. if you go by that list, Robert Freaking Parrish is the 17th greatest player of all time... I love the guy, great player to have on your team but ummm fawk no!
Actually I believe Joe Dumars was the finals MVP of that team. If Isiah is an older version of Chris Paul then he definitely isn't better than Kobe! No disrespect to Paul, but he's no Kobe. I have problems with so many people on that List. Jerry West? Come on. I would say that as far as greatness goes Jordan and Wilt are probably the only two arguably greater from your list. Bill Russell had rings and no disrespect but so do Robert Horry and Steve Kerr. Other than averaging a triple double what did O do to be better than Kobe all time? This list is nonsense.
look Kobe bryant = Dominique Wilkins IMO. A great scorer and that;s about it. His reputation as a great defender is overblown, he can at time play great D, but doesn't put forth the effort nearly enough. He didn't step up in a the finals this year when it was needed either. When Shaq was there to bail him out he was more aggressive as a player and more successful. Once Shaq left he got the green light to fire up as many shots as he could, but that didn't get him very far. and I'm not going to even bother pointing out the merits of Bill or Jerry, you'll have to educate yourself.
I know who all of those people are. So Jerry West being the logo and hitting a famous half court shot makes him better than Kobe?
Based on stats alone, Wilt is better. Russell transformed games with defensive basketball and made the players around him better. Russell and Wilt faced each other many times, and it was always Russell getting the better of Wilt. I have studied Russell's game on various occasions, and watched him play in old games for a long time. I've never seen any one player completely dominate games the way he did. Wilt was also a great player, and an easy #3 on my list. I respect people'e decision to list him above Russell, and I think they are justified. But every Celtics fan should give Russell the edge.
Kobe looks pretty floating in the air and makes him better? what else does he do better than Jerry West?
I'm going to be as brutally honest as possible with you right now. I will no longer take anything you say about the game of basketball seriously from this day forward. Kobe is better than Bird and Magic? Wow.
I've talked to a few ppl who saw Wilt and Russell Live, granted they are Lakers fans, but Wilt was on another level I am told and Wilt was no slouch at playing D either, just that his offensive numbers make ppl forget that. Both are great, I would even go so far as to put Wilt #1, but don't have the energy to argue that one.
