If Crawford does stay with the Lakers, he'll probably play some in the NBA Development League for the Lakers' D-Fenders team. Good guess.
If it were up to me, we start the season with 14 players... I honestly don't see anything in Crawford or Karl that warrants a roster spot.
You don't like Crawford's size? I think he's worth holding onto and playing in the DLeague for us. Sasha didn't blow anyone away his first few seasons with the Lakers, but he obviously improved through hard work.
Sasha was a 1st round pick though. Crawford was one of the last picks of the draft. I dunno, but I would rather use that last roster spot and resign Newble... lol
Im surprised that of all those players, Crawford is who they liked best. I personally thought CJ looked like the best of the leftovers.
Are you suggesting all first rounders make it in the league? Turiaf 2nd Rounder Luke 2nd Rounder Sun Yue 2nd Rounder Ramon Sessions (#56 overall) and DJ Strawberry (#59 overall) were late 2nd rounders from the 2007 draft. They're both looking productive, especially Sessions who's going to start at PG for the Bucks. Granted it's tough for 2nd rounders to stick around in the NBA, but the Lakers need to at least give him a year to see if he's worth developing and calling up at some point.
Heh... I just never saw anything special in him. He didn't even outplay Karl in the summer league, and hasn't really shown anything in preseason. I guess having him as the 15th man wouldn't hurt, but I don't expect him to be in the league in another two years. Hopefully he proves me wrong.
Word, glad someone else feels the same way. None of the leftovers has CJ's athleticism and length. I think if he sorted his personal issues, he'd be a great fit in our system.
