Swift had a very good boxscore, in less than 10 minutes.

Devin Harris gets my Lame Ball, but I understand he's trying to "find himself" and I'd rather have him use a preseason game to do so.

Game Ball: Brook Lopez- His rebounding has been superb so far, especially on offense. I hope he can keep it up because nobody expected this when he was drafted.

VC- 19 points in 21 minutes, 60% shooting. Model of efficiency.

    Lame Ball:

Devin Harris- See that other thread about him...

Sean Williams- Didn't play much, but he is forcing up shots and his body movements are kinda herky jerky in the post (not the Manu/Wade kind either). He seems to be pressuring himself into scoring.

Carter was a picture of steady efficiency again tonight. And I loved Yi's offensive game. His defensive game, not so much. It's only two games, but his early severe foul trouble in both is not encouraging for when games really matter.

The guy who really stood out to me tonight was Lopez. What a physical "presence", as they say. He is a great rebounder with really, really nice touch around the basket, and, of course, his midrange (and even long) J has already drawn rave reviews. But he's also doing a very nice job defensively -- understanding rotations and moving his feet on pick and rolls -- especially considering his rookie status. Yes the fouls are a problem, but I thought he was tagged unfairly in this game a couple of times.

Frank just needs to make sure he's got a couple of fouls to spare going into 4th quarters so that Lopez can see his fair share of minutes at the end of games. It's easy to see that, as much as I like Boone, Lopez is already better all round and will totally outclass him after a few months of NBA experience.

Lame: Frank, for putting Simmons/Hassel on House, and his lack of faith in the post. Williams still looks like a rookie out there. Devin's TOs are getting to me too.

It's painful to say, especially since so many with the organization were commending the summer and camp that Sean has had, but he really has done nothing in the two preseason games to warrant PT in this rotation. He had the one spectacular block on Wade, a couple of nice rebounds, but he's been atrocious offensively, unable to catch, rushing to throw up bricks in the lane, afraid of getting blocked, turning it over on a bad pass, etc.

The problem isn't his shot (he's actually got pretty nice form). It's that he has no moves or finesse or ball handling to get a shot off when anyone is near him. So the team just suffers any time he has the ball unless it's a clear setup for a finish. Defensively he's not standing out as a rebounder or stopper. Hopefully he'll get some momentum soon, but, right now, I'd probably put Stro ahead of him in the rotation.

All i'll say about this game is Harris needs to be more of a PG, Yi needs to get some boards, Lopez has to start...

You know what I think it is? It seems Sean's footwork is not that good. When he gets a rebound or pass close to the basket and puts up an awkward shot, I think it's because he doesn't adjust his footwork so he can put up a more stable looking shot attempt.

    I totally agree.
It's hard to admit, but Sean is probably our 7th best big man... (I count Najera as a big)

At the game, I had a weird perspective, from behind the basket, but I thought Boone, Lopez and Yi each looked good, and everybody else was meh. Simmons and Hassel, especially, were just wastes out there.

Edit: Lopez looked far scrawnier than I expected him to, though.

I was pretty distracted, because I was with my three little cousins, but let's see: Williams took his defense pretty seriously, despite his lack of O- but he was really jokey during warmups; I agree about Harris and the forcing of ill-advised shots- you could tell right away when he wasn't going to pass it; there was a lot of talking between Frank and Harris and they seemed pretty chummy; Najera jokingly took the ball from one of the refs during a time-out and wouldn't give it back; House shoots the ball so damn quickly it seems superhuman; Dooling gave a lot of effort on D, too, and didn't look half-bad; Lopez doesn't seem to have the knack for blocking shots his brother has, but he was hustling, too; Boone was giving instructions to other players and talked to Yi for a bit coming out of a timeout and played a Collins-like role with the picks; there seemed to be an inability at times on our part to drive inside (especially when Boone was out), which meant the new offense just looked like they were passing it around the perimeter- but you probably were able to see that better than me; Simmons did squat, he camped and was mostly ignored; I was surprised to see CDR with so many points, he looked like he was searching for a rhythm; and why the hell did it become the Stro-show at the end? Although it was cool to see him work his way towards the basket; Frank fistbumped everybody on the bench before the game started, one assistant was writing and didn't notice and Frank just waited for him to look up; and the Nets' dancers are pretty damn hot.

What happened to bringing a new girl to every game of the season? Suppose you couldn't look or gawk at the dancers if you had brought a date though.

lol! I did bring a new girl, she just happened to be my 6 year-old second cousin. Weird that you bring up that other one, though- I just talked to her about my feelings for her a couple weeks ago...
