Unsupported. Studies on media tilt tend to be inconclusive. I've seen people quote studies that show more positive coverage to the right and studies that show more positive coverage to the left. I would say that the reporter-level of the media is tilted to the Democrats (so, the left), and the owner-level of the media, and therefore the guiding vision of the outlets they own, is tilted towards capitalism (over socialism, and thus to the right). Nice circular logic. The media is attacking "Joe the Plumber" because they're biased to the left. How do we know they're biased to the left? Because they're attacking "Joe the Plumber!"
Obama could tell the whole plumbing industry to jump off a cliff before he taxes the hell out of them . . . and he will still win this election.
Well I don't know if I can get Obama to tell the plumbing industry to jump off a cliff, but if you're talking about who will win the election . . . name your price. I don't know what internals are, so you probably have a sucker on your hands, but I can't see how McCain is going to win this election . . . the Palin pick was a huge gamble that lost and killed any chance he had of winning, IMO. So what should we bet . . . courtside tickets. : )
No, because I'm not that confident. I just know it isn't the blow-out that has been reported lately, and with ACORN being sued in 15 states and their registrations now being scrutinized, I believe it is a dead heat. And "my friends" tell me I am correct. So 50/50 for courtside seats? Nope. 50/50 on something more reasonable? Sure. So what is reasonable?
I don't know. We could do a six pack or $20.00 or a bottle of good wine . . . but it almost seems more trouble than it is worth. We could do a signature and avatars and things like that but I don't want to have to put up some political signature in this forum. So I say we make it a gentleman's bet . . . or more noted, you are calling out the longshot to win. I'll give you that it might be closer than the media makes it out to be, but Obama has this thing locked up. We'll see shortly. Before then, if you want to do that courtside thing . . . we make the terms loser buys tickets winner buys beers . . . it will be an excuse to finally pony up and get courtside seats.
I think the tilt of the media is a matter of personal perception, possibly influenced by which of the viewer's legs is the longest.
Have you considered the possibility that "your friends" might be lying to you? That they might have good reason to lie? It's not plausible that all of the public polls are wrong, and that "your friends" have some secret way of knowing the truth. Losing campaigns always claim their internal polls show a closer race than the public polls. And then they lose. barfo
Could be. Let's wait and see. How many more civilians will the Obama media have to smear before November 4th? Any bet that this is the last unscripted Q and A we'll see from Obama prior to the vote?
Look, if he makes 250K, GREAT FOR HIM! His taxes will go up a little yes, but he will still be making a TON of money. It's not like the slight tax increase ruins his dream. I made 500K last year and I'm fine with paying more taxes than people who make 60K. Seriously.
Again, that's not the point. The point is a small business owner has employees to pay, insurance to provide, etc. etc. Listen again to the question that was asked.
I'll shut up. I didn't make $500k last year, I didn't follow the team around for a month on a fantasy tour, and I have kids to provide for that I hope to give a head start for college in the future. Tax rates matter to me, and I'll be giving up the $1k if Obama wins anyhow. Congrats on your earnings last year.
This is how I see it and I don't quite understand Joe's beef. Apparently Joe has enough money to buy a company for 250K. And he is concerned that he will bring in more than 250K so his taxes will go up. Well has Joe figured out he can deduct all employee costs. Heck he can just make his salary 200K/yr and that should suck the profits right out of that small business. And if he can pay himself 200K/yr for running a plumbing business and not even be a certified plumber . . . that fool better not complain about giving some back to the country that made all that possible.
I believe what Joe is concerned about is that he is punished for success. A valid criticism of a cascading taxation system.
