Mavericks-Denver Nuggets preview9:30 p.m. today, Pepsi Center, FSNSW; ESPN-FM (103.3), KFLC-AM (1270, Spanish)08:05 PM CST on Thursday, February 9, 2006By DAVID MOORE / The Dallas Morning NewsSeason series: Mavericks lead, 2-0.Key matchupJOSH HOWARD VS. CARMELO ANTHONYAlthough neither of these players is an All-Star this season, each is coming into his own. Howard recently led the Mavericks in scoring for four straight games. Anthony has averaged 28.2 points and shot 46.8 percent since Dec. 1. He's been held to less than 20 only three times in the last 35 games and hit a 3-pointer at the buzzer the last time these teams met to send the game into overtime.Inside the MavericksTravel well: In a scheduling quirk, today's game will mark the Mavericks' final road game of the month. The team won't have to travel again until it plays the San Antonio Spurs on March 2. Dallas has won six straight road games and 14 of its last 16 for a 19-6 record. No team in the league is better.Briefly: The Mavericks overcame a 19-point third- quarter deficit to beat the Nuggets in their first meeting. ... Dallas is 19-3 since Jerry Stackhouse's return. ... Opponents are averaging 20.9 points and shooting 36.9 percent in the fourth quarter in the last 24 games.Inside the NuggetsHard times: Denver still leads the worst division in basketball, but not by much. The Nuggets have lost six of their last seven and entered Thursday with a one-game lead over Utah. Denver's defense has been non- existent. Foes have averaged 10.7 points while shooting 49.4 percent from the field in this stretch. Opponents also own a big edge (7.9) on the boards in the last seven.Briefly: Andre Miller has played in 255 consecutive games, the fifth-longest current streak in the league. ... Kenyon Martin has played better in the last six weeks, but he has missed 13 games due to injury.PROBABLE STARTERSMavericks Pos. I am hoping the Nuggets will be the ones to end the Mavs win streak, but the Nuggets havent been doing too good lately.

The nuggets do matchup well against the mavs but the mavs are playing much better like you said. This might be the mavs toughest game. If they win this they could get up to a 20 game win streak.

That is definantely true. Carmelo Anthony and Marcus Camby should be playing with a chip on their shoulder since they were snubbed in the All Star Game voting.

Devin Harris is injured and Terry gets 2 quick fouls. Wow. This looks like a possible loss since Dallas looks flat though they have proved me wrong many times in this winning streak.

Dallas played like high school players in the first quarter. 10 To's in the first quarter. You know you're introuble when Van Horn is you're leading scorer.

Well I guess Dallas was due for a letdown. Congratulations to the nuggets. Martin was a beast tonight.
