Wow. To me, another one of those spine-tingler types of songs. Got love it roots. <object width="425" height="344"><param name="movie" value="http://www.youtube.com/v/V_h7Lm7C9Nk&hl=en&fs=1"></param><param name="allowFullScreen" value="true"></param><embed src="http://www.youtube.com/v/V_h7Lm7C9Nk&hl=en&fs=1" type="application/x-shockwave-flash" allowfullscreen="true" width="425" height="344"></embed></object>
Such a great song. Thanks for the find! That song brings back so many memories. It was also my cell phone's ring tone for the longest time. I changed it, because I rarely answered the phone when it rang. I just wanted to listen to that song.
at 1:58, it reminds me of pushing into the rose garden as costas says "we are here in portland oregon...." ahhh best network for basketball NBC was.
Anyone else remember when thery used to have the jazz band in the TNT studio? I think that was what they used for entertainment before Charles Barkley joined the crew.
Nostalgia at its best. I miss the NBA on NBC. Off topic, but people really go to John Tesh concerts? LOL
Bring it back NBA! I want NBA on NBC..it beats that crap out of that weak ass abc bullshit who can only play 7 games a season where NBC did triple headers regularly...so here's a nice big fuck you to the nba for getting rid o the greatest theme song ever.
Yeah. Also, ABC kept scheduling Bulls games on Sunday, and then they would switch to covering another game, and the Bulls game would end up being blacked out, and would only be available later that night on major tape delay. If they schedule a game, they should play the game, or get rid of that blackout rule.
It was nice hearing it during the Olympics on NBC. Lots of nostalgic memories of Sunday triple-headers.
There was a flair to the NBA games that there just isn't these days. Maybe it's the times, the culture where ESPN dominates the sports market and every game is available if you want to pay for it, but there is something missing from broadcasts ever since NBC stopped doing them. There was something about that music that just sets the tone for that whole era of basketball. All the flashy graphics and slick movies and highlight packages, I don't know, they almost take away from the broadcast. Now maybe if we saw some of what NBC put out now we'd all think it looked like complete crap by today's standards, but I wish that everything could be back the way it was. I enjoyed watching other teams play just to watch them play. Now I really don't enjoy watching anyone but the Blazers, and I sometimes wonder if that's because of the type of game of basketball that is played now, or is my view heavily affected by the presentation.
ABC is horrible. I hate hate hate their bastardization of televised basketball. Same with ESPN. TNT is still pretty good though.
ABC and ESPN are one in the same. In fact when you watch sports on ABC it says "ESPN on ABC", all part of the Disney family. TNT is still good with Ernie, Charles and Kenny. I don't have HBO. I miss Bob Costas.
I love the NBA on NBC theme. I recommend reading this article that I have bookmarked for the past few years. It's a good read. http://espn.go.com/nba/playoffs2002/s/2002/0612/1394112.html And if you guys want to download the song off of iTunes for .99, it's available. It's called Roundball Rock. http://phobos.apple.com/WebObjects/MZStore.woa/wa/viewAlbum?id=48160&s=143441 Same price on Amazon, and I would recommend buying it here as it's DRM free: http://www.amazon.com/Roundball-Roc...f2_1?ie=UTF8&s=dmusic&qid=1224592658&sr=102-1
