From time to time, I like to make mixes of songs. I thought that when I do, I'd post it here, for anyone who's interested. I listen to a combination of well-known and lesser-known artists, so some of the songs I use may be familiar, some might not be. In any case, here's one. I've dubbed it "Pure Sex," because it's a collection of (10) songs that I think create a strong theme of sensuality, both in sound and lyrics. 1. "Je T'aime Moi Non Plus" by Serge Gainsbourg 2. "Cherry Blossom Girl" by Air 3. "Jimmy" by M.I.A. 4. "Just Like Honey" by The Jesus & Mary Chain 5. "Pale Movie" by Saint Etienne 6. "Lady Grinning Soul" by David Bowie 7. "Fade Into You" by Mazzy Star 8. "Superstar" by Sonic Youth 9. "My Dark Star" by Suede 10. "Venus In Furs" by The Velvet Underground Download Link Comments welcome. Feel free to suggest some songs you think would have fit the theme I was shooting for. Or any discussion that occurs to you.
Nice theme. I thought of a few tracks that might fit. I'll listen and see. Anyway, I like when different types of people post mixes because I love discovering new music but there are so many choices it can be paralyzing.
I haven't listened to Portishead in a long time. I re-listened to "Glory Box" after reading your post. I agree, it is sexy. In fact, trip-hop is, in general, a quite seductive style of music (especially when it is female-sung, IMO!). Sneaker Pimps (with their original vocalist) and Portishead are my favourite two trip-hop groups.
I love me some trip-hop. I'm listening to Massive Attack right now. Sneaker Pimps, good call. I'll have to pull some of that up.
