Jake Shields, a Ceasar Gracie protege, is arguably the best fighter from the EliteXC brand. The welterweight is riding an eleven fight winning streak with his last two bouts being for EliteXC's 170-lbs championship.

According to GracieFighter.com, the website run by Ceasar Gracie's camp, Shields could already be on his way to the UFC following the death of EliteXC:

Other fighters from the Ceasar Gracie Jiu-Jitsu camp include Nick and Nate Diaz, David Terrell, and former Ultimate Fighter competitor Chris Sanford.

Shields is just one of many EliteXC fighters expected to pop onto the UFC's radar tonight.

It is pretty shocking to hear this from a fighter camp before EliteXC's corpse is cold, but that is the nature of the business.

My shopping shortlist for the UFC/WEC includes:

Nick Diaz (WW), Jake Shields (WW), Brett Rogers (HW), Dave Herman (HW), Eddie Alvarez (WW), Joe Villasenor (MW), Mark Oshiro (FW), Mike Aina (LW), Rafael Feijao (LHW), and Wilson Reis (FW).

How about Jake Shields to the WEC to see what he can do againist Carlos Condit? I don't think he can hang with the likes of GSP, Fitch, Alves. But he might give Condit a nice challenge.

Alvarez has a Dream contract too, don't see him going to the UFC.. hence my leaving him off the list I made ;)

His Dream contract is nonexclusive so I bet he can get out of it. I would imagine he'd rather be in the UFC than fighting in Japan, where guys are getting paid 3-6 months late. Also, Dream is having serious financial problems as well.

Shields vs. Condit would be a tremendous fight, but I hope they would do it in the UFC.

I think it would be a great fight to headline a Fight Night, because you don't have to pay for those fights. Both fighters are very good fighters, but also pretty underrated, and not alot of people know them. Put them on a fight night where they could get some exposure, they would instantly get some fans because they aren't boring. I quite like Shields, and I'm a big big fan of Condit, his last fight was probably the best MMA fight I have ever watched. So I would love toe see this on a Fight Night.
