Who do you think is the best player to play in the NBA from Europe?

Tough call, but I'm going to have to say Arvydas Sabonis or Drazen Petrovic

Petrovic had too short of a career and Arvy came over here too late in his career or else he would be much more of a legend.

My choice goes to Dirk, he's won an MVP.

I'll go with Dirk as well, he was the best offensive player at the PF spot a couple of years ago.

I never saw Sabonis or Petrovic play, so I'm not going to pretend like I know how well they did. Too bad, really, I wish I had been following the NBA when they were still playing. :(

I'm going to say Dirk has been the most impressive that I've seen, with Gasol, Kirilenko and Calderon 2nd, 3rd and 4th. If Navarro had stayed in the NBA for a few more seasons he could've been up there as well, as Lakers fans found out a few nights ago.

EDIT: Forgot Tony Parker...put him 3rd.

    Manu or Kukoc

Oops, just noticed that we are talking European - and Manu, while having a Euro basketball experience, is not European.

Kukoc was a great player as well. Vlade Divac was great for the game as well.

Hard to think of one. For European players I always get shooters, scorers, and passers....

That's who first came to my mind.

    Sabonis wasn't half bad either.

Dirk is the best Euro to play in the NBA.
Sabonis knee's were too shot, he played well and was one of the few players actually big enough and good enough to make Shaq work for his points but he was a shell of his former self.

    Tony Parker would be #2

Petrovic died too young to be top 3 unfortunately.

Valde Divac would have to be my #3 right now with Pau Gasol showing potential to move to that spot.

Tough call. There's been a lot of great players from Europe to play in the NBA - Sabonis, Gasol, Dirk, Tony Parker, Kirilenko, Kukoc.

At the end of the day, I'd probably go with Dirk, as much as I dislike him. He's got all sorts of offensive talent and he's won an MVP.

Kukoc would be my favorite of all them though...

As an NBA player, Dirk by a wide margin. No other European player has even come close to MVP consideration.

Dirk. Also, Russia is not considered part of Europe, but I see the point.

I think the answer depends on how you interpret the question. Do you take it as the best NBA player from Europe, the best NBA player who spent some time playing in Europe or the best European player who spent time in the NBA. If it is the latter, and that is how I read the question, I find it hard not to pick Sabonis.

no question the answer is dirk if you are basing it on what they did in the nba.

had sabonis played in the nba during his prime, he could have a case but he didn't so i don't see how it could be him.
