I was listening to Adam Clanton today morning, who was at Rockets practice yesterday. He said that "the word is", Francis will be cut and Mutombo will be brought in. We know that the Rockets plan to eventually bring back Deke, but I was surprised to hear him say that Francis could be cut. Not sure if he just talking out his ass, he heard it from someone talking out of their ass, or if there is a legitimate possibility that the Rockets brass are considering. Just FYI.
That sucks; hope it's not true. Even if the Rockets have nothing planned for Francis, he's an expiring contract. He could still produce, and now that he's in shape, it doesn't hurt to at least put him in a preseason game.
Don't do it! I really hope they give him a chance to redeem himself. Stevie deserves to stick around. Cut someone else! Strawberry or Mike Harris. Besides, we don't have much PG depth, and Francis would be valuable once he becomes completely healthy in a couple of weeks or so. Strawberry and Mike Harris' positions however are loaded with T-mac, Artest, Battier, Head, Brent and Wafer. No point keeping them around.
I love stevie, but his career is done.............Deke's value is a lot higher than Steves.............we desperately need a backup center......
