Nice, what kind of camera? The dudes next to me (blazer fans too...in fact, 90% of the peeps around me were blazer fans) had an SLR taking pics. I snapped a few, but again, I was pretty drunk.
It's my stealth, NBA approved setup. Canon 20D with an 85mm f1.8 lens. Staples won't allow a lens over 3" and this one just fits. It would be fun some day to be able to shoot down with the pros on the baseline and bring my real sports lens (70-200mm f2.8).
pretty crazy! gotta love the metal detectors at staples. sheesh. don't have those at the RG, do they?
I've got no pull to get you a media pass. That's more of a Home team thing instead of a Visitor thing. Sorry brother.
You know, the security at Staples is probably the toughest as anywhere in the league. We call them the Redcoats! Those guys are Nazi's!
LMAO. Dude I was there last time and they wouldn't let me get down to the lower seats. They said, "everything's changed since 9/11." LMAO. Way to bring a completely irrelevant issue to a basketball game.
The lighting inside pro arenas is unbelievable.. it's like shooting in the daylight. I'd love to bust out my 200m lens for a Blazer game. But looks like the 85 got pretty close up and was enough. Again, nice work.
Well, it is 85mm with a 1.6x crop factor for my SLR, so that makes it about 135mm. I did have to shoot on f1.8 and 1600 iso to get a fast shutter speed.
I take my Rebel Xsi with a 75-300mm lens into Blazer games at the Rose Garden and they don't even blink...
Crazy... I'll try that next game I go to. I always read about on the ticket policy thing that SLRs aren't allowed. Oh well, looks like I'll bring my D80.
All they do is ask me if all I have in the bag is camera equipment, take a cursory glance to make sure I'm not sneaking something else into the arena, and off I go. If you get stopped coming in and they say you can't bring it in, tell them you're going to put it back in the car, turn around, and walk to the next entrance and try again. I used to bring my film Minolta Maxxum 5000 with the same size lens to games all the time. Heck, sometimes when I'm shooting from the tunnels at the top of the 100 level, the ushers will actually stop people from passing in front of me for a moment so I can snap the picture, lol...
As an auto mode addict, do you think if I used the those same settings from just above the media stripe in the Rose Garden I'd get better results? EDIT: Crap, it's 4-5.6. Never mind.
For NBA players safety, fans are not allowed to lean over a railing to reach out to a player. Unless you have a seat in that seat the whole game you can just simple stick your hand out barely. Same with tunnels. Fans cannot hang out by the tunnels they must be behind the guest services.
