Glad to know he is okay, and hope he gets into shape for the preseason. I'm excited to see him in preseason.

This cats got potential, his preseason stats aren't good ways of projecting the type of player he can be.

-He's mobile for a player his size
    -Great Wingspan
    -Athletic
-Can handle the ball well (cause he's naturally a point guard)
    -Has a solid shooting mechanics

If he pans out and reaches his potential, I'd say his stats can mirror former 3x All Star, Detlef Schrempf (13 ppg 5 rpg 3 or 4 apg)
Obviously he wont be that kind of player this year, but 3 years from now that could be a reality....it took Detlef 3 years to finally average double figures and earn decent minutes.

Maybe he can change his game in 3 years but as of now he sucks ass....but Im not banking on it.

Has solid shooting mechanics?!? I believe his only MADE shot in the preseason was in the last 10sec of last night game. He also did something I had never seen...miss 3 FT's in a row! A supposed PG who cant make a FT wow. Dont even try to use mono as an excuse...he was in the game and its just a FT.

Handle the ball??? The dude was a turnover machine in the preseason. Maybe he is good against lesser Euro teams but his ball handling SUCKS in NBA standards.

He is also a fouling machine and has no grasp of the offense in the slightest. He runs around like a chicken with his head cut off. When he gets the ball he tries to go 1 v 1...yeah, great for a PG

After seeing him in the Olympics and now in preseason I have no idea why the Lakers would get him over here this year. I get that it probably had to be a guaranteed contract for him to get out of China but it has been not worth it and I dont think it ever will be. He wasnt even second fiddle on the Chinese team!! Not even close

He straight up sucks. It doesnt look like he has the skills to be a NBA PG and he doesnt have the shot of skill to be a SG, and he is too frail for a SF....He is gonna be irrelevant his entire NBA career...however long it lasts

Agreed. The trolling for him on this board is really pretty sickening.

Sun Yue will be a work in project if the Lakers are patient enough to develop him. It's going to start with developing his body to compete with NBA players. He's clearly overmatched and I think his turnovers and anxiety are a result of being intimidated on the court. Adding some muscle and strength will improve his balance, his technique and should elevate his confidence.

The Lakers have always been intrigued by tall players who can handle the basketball. Maybe the Lakers should have left him overseas for another season before bringing him over so he can gain more experience. I'm not even sure he's ready for the DLeague at this point, but I guess the Lakers want to get him on the fast track to becoming a contributor at some point.

The Lakers took similar steps with Sasha when they drafted him. He was projected to be a point guard because he exhibited ball handling skills and moved well for his size. However, the experiment failed because Sasha struggled making decisions with the basketball and the Lakers guided him into the role he's in now.

Nah, Yue wasn't playing overseas before they drafted him. Dude was in the ABA for 2 years, Sun averaged like 14 ppg 6 boards and 10.5 apg (I know the ABA is a really inferior league, but those are decent stats). The reason I said he has solid shooting mechanics was based on his performance in the Olympics....specifically his performance against team USA, he was being guarded by Kobe, but he didn't turn the ball over under pressure, he also showcased a really fluid shooting touch (keep in mind, Kobe said he was testing Yue's mechanics while he was guarding him). The reason dude wasn't the 2nd scoring option was because China wanted to use him as a facilitator...keep in mind China also has a reputation for not correctly utilizing their players strengths (Especially peepz like Yi Jianlian).

I thought the Aoshen league played overseas until recently? Plus his experience playing for China's national team.

I didn't take much from his performance in the Olympics. I liked the block he had on Dwight Howard, but nothing else really stood out to me. He has a really bad habit of dribbling up the sideline and getting trapped in a corner.

Aoshen has been playing here for 2yrs now, LoneStar is correct.

Sun played much better and with more confidence in the Olympics. He was more comfortable back then, I dunno what happened, cause I watched all of China's games and he would go towards sideline, then spin back to middle, and he hasn't done it at all this time around.

D-League will be good for him.
