The Nets have very little depth at the center position. Lopez and Boone should never start together (not to mention that both Frank generally and this particular system prefers a PF who hcan shoot).

I think we are going to see different starting line ups throughout the season like last year.

True, but he also wasn't athletic or fast enough to guard PFs on defense. His offense on combo guards named D. Wade however...

Anyways, I always thought, that with Collins and Krstic, Frank basically would start 2 centers every game.

So it looks like Boone is the guy . . . for now.

Probably a good move in that it should make Brook a focal offensive point when he's in. If he stays out of foul trouble, I still expect to see him late in a lot of games.

Yeah, I have no problem with Boone starting as long as Brook see's good minutes, especially late in the game.

Once again a stupid move by Frank. So we lose 10 games watching Lopez out play Boone. Then Frank gets pressure from management to Start Lopez. Then all of a sudden Frank says "I wanted to make a change because of Matchups!"

Lopez should be the focal point all the time on the court. This dribble and drive stuff is like trick plays in Football. You only use it a few times a game. Dribble and drive is cool, but is it only me, but doesnt it remind you of the Harlem Globetrotters. Unfortunately for us, we dont win every game.

If I'm not mistaken the last couple of games (I didn't see a lot of the Knicks game so forgive me) they didnt use too much of the dribble drive, it looked like to me any ways. I saw a lot more stagnant plays especially in the Knicks game at the Zod. Could be wrong but it looked like they used it more against Miami and it looked good then, didn't see much of it back here in the states.

You maybe right but you dont know with Frank. Each preseason game he had a different goal he wanted to accomplish. Who know what this guy wants to do.

Yeah I agree with you their. I'm a Frank supporter, however at times I feel he is all over the place with what he wants to do.

Scoring wasn't a problem with this team in the preseason so I wouldn't be concerned with dribble drive or anyother offensive sets... yet. Give the team 5 meaningful games to see where they are at.

A couple of points--not sure this is the right thread for it, but whatever.

(1) Each game this season, the Nets played a team that had played more preseason games. So they have been at a disadvantage.
(2) turnovers in the preseason and early in the season are very common. I believe that last year, the Nets were averaging over 20 turnovers a game after two weeks or so of the regular season.
(3) Due to injuries and limited minutes for Vince, it isn't rational to take much from the performance of the offense this preseason. Players like Gill, Hodge, Hassell, Hamilton received way more minutes than they will get in the regular season, and players like Boone, Vince, and Najera got way less.
(4) Heck, forget about the offense. Is it any wonder the defense was erratic?

This team will be fine. They may get off to a slow start, but I have them pencilled in for in the high 30s in wins.

Ah, playoffs at the Meadowlands...10% of the crowd cheering instead of the usual 2%.

yea I read that article that said Boone will start but it isnt set in stone yet..Lopez has a chance at starting on opening night...i hope so because he deserves it...Boone has been out with health problems so he should work his way back but he has to earn it first tho. Lopez should be our starting Center right now

No matter who starts tonight, Lopez is a starter and Boone is a backup.

If it were the other way around there would be no discussion about it.

I wouldn't worry about this too much. The Wizards are extremely weak down low.

this isn't a knock on Boone. He was an awesome pick; for a 20-something, his production is exceptional. We've gone through this before; nearly two-thirds of non-lottery big men (not even counting those taken in the last half of the second round) are out of the league by the time their rookie contract is up.

He will just dominate backup centers--and, in the event Brook gets injured, he'll be able to step right in without becoming a weakness.

Sure. Nothing wrong with having good depth.

Boone also has trade value. That's almost unheard of amongst recent Nets bench players.

Still, he isn't good enough to justify shooting under 50% from the line, so he better be in the 60% range if he wants to play big minutes.
