something along the lines of how Israel will be destroyed if Obama is elected. Guess who it was from? I'd be happy to quote it if anyone is interested.

Kind of an exaggeration to say the least.

Obama's foreign policy advisors are well known to be pro Arab and not friendly to Israel. There may be a lot of truth to this, though it's hard for me to tell since I'm responding to a one-line post without much real information.

The first one is from the "Republican Jewish Coalition." I don't know why they targetted me or got my name; I don't think my name is particularly Jewish. It is an oversized card. Above a photo of Obama speaking in Germany, it says:

    Concerned about Barack Obama?

    YOU SHOULD BE.

History has shown that a naive and weak foreign policy has resulted in tragic outcomes for the Jewish people.

on the other side, it says:

Obama has not shown the wisdom, experience or strength to stand up to the people who would do us harm.

Many Americans have questions about Barack Obama and whether his views are good for the United States and Israel. And for good reason.

Most concerning is Sen. Barack Obama's naive grasp of the threats against the United States and Israel.

From his opposition to legislation against labeling Iran's Revolutionary Guard a terrorist organization to willingness to meet with Iranian President Ahmadinejad [that last clause in bold] without any preconditions, Se. Barack Obama has raised real questions about his judgment and experience.

Obama surrounds himself with anti-Israel advisors [that in bold] like General Tony McPeak, Zbigniew Brzezinki, Robert Malley and Rashid Khalidi. These men have played instrumental roles in shaping Sen. Obama's world views.

Sen. Obama told a Jewish group he supports an undivided Jerusalem, only to flip-flop the very next day. Another time, Obama called his support for an undivided Jerusalem a "poor phrasing" of words. [that sentence in bold]

Obama himself has pointed out that "words matter." And they do. Words matter to people who care about the future of Israel. And they mattered earlier this year, when Obama stated, "Nobody is suffering more than the Palestinian people." [that in bold, of course]

Human rights leader and former Israeli Cabinet minister Natan Sharansky said Obama's lack of experience is a "risk" to Israel [bolded]. His naive views are a risk to us, as well.

    ----

The other one is from the Republican Party of Florida, and starts with "Barack Obama. Dangerously Unprepared." and just includes a bunch of scary-sounding quotes either by Obama or about him. It shows a picture of a stern-looking Obama superimposed in front of a map of Iran, Afghanistan, and Pakistan.

I wish I lived in a tossup state so I could get some of this crap. The only thing I've gotten is something from my union, endorsing Obama.

Seems like it's addressing a real issue for Jewish people to me.

I don't give a damn about Israel, even though I should.

I live in America. I don't care what happens to Israel. We need to fix what happens here before we even worry about them.

I was raised Jewish- my family obviously is and many of the people I know are. We're all concerned about the state of Israel to varying degrees (I'm at the low end) and no one I know is voting McCain.

The language of the mailings is clearly manipulative, and designed to make elderly Jewish voters fearful. The overuse of the words "naive" and "weak." Logical jumps such as insisting that various acquaintances are "advisors" who "have played instrumental roles" in shaping his "world views." Trying to link Obama's statement that he would meet with Ahmadinejad "without conditions" to the latter's statement that Israel "should be wiped from the face of the earth." The phrase "dangerously unprepared."

It doesn't come anywhere close to an appropriate discussion, and you know full well that it doesn't "address" anything. It is disgusting--an attempt to obtain votes through inciting irrational fear. What would be appropriate? Something along the lines of: "every major jewish american group is against Obama." But that's not true now, is it?

It is another pathetic attempt to hold onto power at ANY cost.

He is naive and weak at foreign policy. His advisors are patently pro arab and anti israel. I am already concerned about his first two years on the job, and these things only add to my concern.

McCain is dangerously old, or so I'm told.

I agree, well I won't say that I don't give a damn about them but this is hardly an issue that would decide my vote personally.

In battleground states it would be smart for a group like this to focus on issues that are actually going to apply to the majority of voters who are still "on the fence" about who to vote for. Not Israel, foreign policy yes (and by that I mean more relevant aspects of it that the Israeli conflict), the war yes, hell even gay marriage.

I give a damn about Israel, and peace in Israel means peace in the US. Remember that.

The Jewish vote in Florida actually plays a huge role in deciding the winner of the state. They have large numbers and are willing to go with either party.

US citizens don't have to care about foreign relations, but you have to acknowledge it as a major topic which directly affects the US.
