I knew it was a rat . . . I could smell it all the way from here in Oregon. <object width="425" height="344"><param name="movie" value="http://www.youtube.com/v/5d2G2W4bgKQ&hl=en&fs=1"></param><param name="allowFullScreen" value="true"></param><embed src="http://www.youtube.com/v/5d2G2W4bgKQ&hl=en&fs=1" type="application/x-shockwave-flash" allowfullscreen="true" width="425" height="344"></embed></object>
For what it's worth, the norway rat's just your typical rat (roof rat??)- and it's probably the most invasive mammal species ever (even more than us). It's devastated dozens, if not hundreds, of island ecosystems. Just in case you were feeling bad about killing them- it's not even native to florida.
The rats may be intrusive but it's humans who spread them around the world. Exterminate the humans instead.
They are slightly different from each other. Length of the tail and some other stuff. The roof rat feeds more on citrus. I DO NOT feel bad about killing them. I am very happy that the snake has something to eat.
