Now that Willingham has (finally) stepped down, does Mora Jr. leave the S-Hawks for his "deam job"....coaching the Huskies?

How does Willingham's J look? Oh, wait he this has nothing to do with hoops? Never mind.

I don't think so. Leave a $4,000,000 per year job for a college team with little upside?

I'm thinking maybe Peterson from Boise State so he can get into a BCS conference or possibly Norm Chow as he's been begging for a college job.

    Heh, sorry. ;)

I guess I was (erroneously?) under the impression that NW sports - as a whole - were still fair game in the standard forum?

I hear ya. The only reason I even posed this question was that Mora's comments about ("dream job" @) UW ultimately cost him his job with the Falcons.

I'm just giving you crap ... but on general principle I don't think it's permissible to discuss winless pac-10 football teams (especially from Washington) on any forum, let alone a Blazers forum.

    Go Beavs!!!

Little upside? At the University of Washington? Whatever you say...

I'm an Oregon State fan and I will readily admit that UW has TON of upside. The history that program has, coupled with a great city in Seattle, makes recruiting fairly easy if you're not an idiot. It would be a great situation for a coach.

What I was referring to is that the Fuskies have little talent and people from CA are not as smitten with Seattle as they used to be. Add to that, with Nueheisel at UCLA, Erickson at ASU, Oregons in-roads into CA and USC being USC there are far fewer athletes for UW to get.

It's going to be a major rebuilding effort and I seriously doubt UW will ever rise to what they were for a brief time.

Ironically, since Mora will be coaching an NFL team next year, I don't think he'd be a big enough splash for the U Dub. At this point, with how bad that program is, they need to do something to blow the skirts up of the boosters and I don't think Mora would do that.

This Holmgrens last year with the Seahawks. Mora Jr. from what I'm hearing is likely to be the next Seahawks coach. I doubt that many people will want to go to UW after seeing how badly Todd Turner has fucked up that University in all their sports programs. Ducks need to go ahead and promote Chip Kelly to the head spot now, before everyone starts calling to interview him. He's one of the bright young minds in the college coaching ranks these days.

Not if they continue to lose guys in their backyard like Jonathon Stewart, Schilling and Taylor Mayes just to name a few. Aside from Locker I don't see much talent on that team at all.

This year's crop isn't horrible...iirc they're starting 3 true freshmen on offense, they're just not that good yet.

You're right, though...there's no excuse for guys like Stewart to not strongly consider UW. (And I'm not even from there)

I heard Lane Kiffin's name tossed around today...not the hugest fan. Boise State's coach may not have enough incentive, though I heard some of the Husky guys saying on the radio they're ready to pony up around 2.5M per year. Norm Chow's dying to get a head gig somewhere, so they've got that going. I'd like to see the guy that molded Leinart and Young into stud QBs take Locker on for a year or two.

Seeing Locker struggle the last couple of years has been hard...loads of wasted talent on bad teams.
