Interesting move. Hill is the better defender, ball-handler (Barnes is pretty solid handling it though), passer, creator. Barnes' outside shot is probably better but its hard to say because he was very solid the year before last then last year he was terrible. Barnes is the better rebounder and surely a tough enforcer type.

Starting Raja Bell and Matt Barnes gives the Suns a ton of toughness and scrapiness but I question the lack of offensive skill offensively with that unit. They'll surely lead the league in flagrant fouls with Barnes, Bell, and Shaq.

I think the main reason for this move is to limit Hill's minutes in the regular season and to have him run the offense with the second unit.

Good move. Barnes has some pretty good basketball skill. He's an all-around player for the most part, although his decision-making could stand to improve. He's one of those guys where you really like him or you just wish he was on the bench for trying to do too much or not using his head. He is not a tentative player, he's very aggressive. He's got guts and energy and toughness. So fans may like that style of play.

Smart move. With Hill's health issues, a 6th Man role would add more years to his career in this league. I can definitely see this cat as a 12-4-4 guy off the bench. I gotta admit, I never thought I'd see this happen...when I was growing up, Grant Hill was THE man, he could do it all, put up 23 points a night average 6 assists to go along with 8 rebounds....and now, he's coming off the bench....Damn, I feel OLD lol

makes sense given hills age and history with injuries.........i like barnes defense as well.....to tell you the truth if lopez and barnes play to their fullest capabilities the suns can still be considered a contender..........

Every time I hear the name Matt Barnes I think of Junior Barnes, the character Bill Cosby talks about in some of his stand up, such as the snowball story. Probably because Matt Barnes and Dunleavy Junior both played for the Warriors.
