Is Michael Jordan the next Isiah? Everyone knows Zekes history as coach and manager. Has Michaels post Chicago career been any better? He was a failure in Washington in both his comeback as an over the hill player and as a manager. Now he is in Charlotte and I haven't seen much improvement with that team. The franchise is losing money by the bucketfull. How long can Larry Brown last here? How long can MJ last here?
I don't know if he can be. The difference I really see, is that Jordan hasn't gone out and placed the team in salary cap hell by paying players way too much, for way too long, the way Isiah did. His situation is more "manageable". As long as he doesn't torpedo the teams finances, he will never be in that bad of a situation.
he is well on his way, he traded hermann's expiring for nazr mohammeds huge deal, and gave up cap space for j-rich as well. now after paying okafor and wallace and carrol they are over the cap, and without a superstar. i would say he is WORSE than isiah, as his drafts have been HORRIBLE!! kwame?? ammo???? it was probably and dj augestin when they already have felton????? he is off his rocker.
I don't think Michael has that much interest in being a good GM actually. I think he'd rather play golf. I doubt he'll OD on sleeping pills.
At the same time, a lot of those players mentioned are at least productive. You can not say the same for the players that were brought into NY. Nazr actually had a pretty good end to last year, so there may be some upside there.
MJ has a horrible eye for talent. MJ and Isiah are prime candidates of great-NBA-player doesn't equate to good talent evaluators/GM's. KP was a player you didn't notice on the court but he's proved to be a great GM and talent evaluator. MJ's philosophy is if they win on the college state they have to be good NBA players. Hasn't quite worked that way with Sean May, Adam Morrison, Emeka Okafor, ect.
I'll call Baloney on this one. People can't seem to imagine that MJ is bad at something. Truth is he sucks at everything outside of playing basketball and promoting random products. He absolutely sucks as a GM, a baseball player, a spouse, golfer, gambler,.... Now nothing is wrong with any of these (except maybe the spouse part), we mostly suck at most of these things too. The problem with MJ is that he has had delusions that he is or "could be" awesome at these. He's universally failed. He thought he could be a pro golfer, he failed. He thought he could be a pro baseball player, he failed. He thought he could be a pro GM, he failed, and is continuing to fail. It is true that if he keeps at the GM thing, he will eventually make a good trade - maybe a great trade. But this is a matter of statistics more than any ability on his part. Keep making trades and making lottery picks, eventually one will be good. Bottom Line, MJ sucks.
