I'll keep it simple for you: belief in god is a religious belief. There've been 230 years of creating a framework of law to protect americans from being force-fed any religious belief.

Stop trying to distract from your original point, which was that this idiotic and degrading ad is the equivalent of a policy disagreement.

I'd like you to point out an example of a conservative being "attacked" for his pro-life views, by the way. Or for wanting a strong military. Or for wanting lower taxes. Or even for trying to protect the borders.

Yet Moses and the 10 Commandments appear on the top of the Supreme Court building, and the 10 Commandments appear on the door of the Supreme Court, and the Washington Mall is laid out in the shape of a cross, and "In God we trust" is on our currency, and EVERY state constitution asks for God's blessing on that state, and the Senate starts each day with a prayer, and the President says, "God bless America" in every state of the Union speech, and the great majority of the Founding fathers believed in God and wished this to be a Christian nation.

My God. Just pick up a newspaper some time.

That's the best you can do? I guess I am an ignoramus, for having expected more. Good night- may your faith in your overarching rightness sustain you through what will be, for you, very dark times.

You're not wrong, that is what I meant. But I think BP has decided otherwise...

First of all, the first 3 of those ideas represent "large government"- are you sure you are really in support of those?

What does your post have to do with your quote of me?

Religion has no effect on the qualifications of a politician to serve in any office; 'opiate of the masses', anyone?

Thank you very much! I read the entire Snopes article, and it was illuminating, to say the least.

They're very good at pointing out minor flaws in certain "facts," and even disproving outright myths. Yet I find it very interesting that they do everything they can to undermine the idea that Christian principles played a role in the founding of this nation--and they ignore anything that contradicts their point of view.

For example, they ignore the fact that while the frieze on the top of the Supreme Court includes many different lawgivers, Moses sits right in the middle of the group, thus occupying the most important and significant position. You would think that if Snopes was truly interested in presenting the truth, and not just attacking a certain point of view, that they would in all fairness point this out. But they don't.

Their entire argument is meant to attack a point of view--not to present a balanced picture. I will keep this in mind the next time anyone directs me to Snopes.com to "disprove" something.

There are certain essential roles for the federal government. One of them is providing for the national defense, which requires an army, navy, air force, and marines. If that's "large government," then I'm all for it. No single state can be responsible for protecting us from our enemies, and guarding our national integrity. That's a very legitimate role for the federal government.

Jesus said, "Take up your cross and follow me." That's a directive from the son of God.
