Big men get overpaid...no way around that. That said, by the middle of this year(if not earlier) he will be earning every bit of his contract. This deal is GREAT and only gonna get better as he gets better and NBA salaries on avg go up. edit: and if something horrible physically happens with him then its only a three year deal instead of the proposed 5.
good deal for the lakers, in that they are probably saving money off what he would have commanded this offseason. on the other hand... i DO have reservations about his motivation. he all of the sudden became a semi-force, in his extension year. i would not be at all surprised to see him plateau for the next few years, and then have a MONSTER year in his next contract year.
oh and rizz, im on my buds computer, the cable guy should be coming later today. and i thought the sig bet was bynum>oden or oden>bynum.
Im pretty sure it was whatever the other guy wanted. I remember you mentioning something like that, but that wasnt agreed upon. If you can link me to where that was agreed then fine
While I would prefer the one I posted, Ill let it slide since I cant find the thread we bet on. take off the "until proven otherwise. i mean it."
You beat me to it. Motivation has always been the concern about Bynum. Does he go Oliver Miller on the L*kers? Does he let his paycheck go to his head? As for the rest of the team, the L*kers are now capped out. Odom is going for nothing. Buss uses the Fake Show to make money, and he won't go deep and long into the luxury tax. Perhaps Ariza gets signed, but Mihm is gone next year and Fisher is gone the year after. It's a good thing the L*kers consider themselves fully formed, because this is going to be the team for the forseeable future.
