According to Janny Hu. Not surprising, really. Now if we could just get Wright and Belinelli some PT... I am worried about that because Nelson used as his rationale for not playing them that they had a chance to win in the opener. So that sounds like if he thinks they have a chance to win a game, the young guys are not going to play. Great, so they will only get in the game in garbage time of blowouts? That's not really good training.
So, let me get this straight: 1) Marcus Williams is currently in Nellie's doghouse, but it's only one game into the season. Anything can happen, right? 2) Mullin was the one who pulled the trade for Williams giving up a protected 1st rounder, but now we don't pick up his option (Rowell's decision) so we basically wasted a 1st round pick for a player we have no plans for beyond this year. 3) Rowell's decision is him trying to scheme Mullin out of town by reinforcing Nellie's decision to put Williams in the doghouse, but Mullin and Nellie are tight friends/colleagues, so what is he trying to accomplish. OK, #3 is me just trying to stir the pot, but seriously, Rowell is a dick!!!
Rowell is killing Cohan's toy and its going to come to pass in about 2 years when the Oracle becomes a dead spot again. Some opposing player just said (I forgot who) that the Hornets' win at the Oracle was a good win because that was a very tough venue. Well, that's because of the past 2 years. That advantage is going down the tubes very fast. I'm not saying Marcus Williams is a keeper though. He's done nothing. Getting in a doghouse in one game? How about a summer and preseason? He has not shown a commitment to D and its not that hard to do. Glad to see Brandon and Marco get reupped.
Well, as long as the Warriors stay entertaining, the fans will come and cheer loudly. I mean, the fans have been coming for years before "We Believe" so I don't think that's going to change. But as far as having a decisive home court advantage, yeah, we need a good or great product on the floor.
I can only hope that Mullin with Rowell's approval has got something in the works for Kirk Hinrich and Tyrus Thomas by trading BW and expiring contracts in AL and Marcus Williams. We need a solid PG to get back to the playoffs. PG: Hinrich, DeMarcus, Watson SG: Buke, Jax, Marco SF: Mags PF: Thomas, AR C: AB, Ronny
I'd keep Wright. Trading away Wright defeats the purpose of developing polished inside scorers who can rebound, dribble, block shots and pass. Besides, some day I want to see Randolph and Wright work together on the same court at SF/PF. I'd rather do Hinrich for Ellis just to keep that as I believe bigs hold far more value than any small guard. If Ellis was 6'6" I'd say hold onto Ellis because tall, quick shooting guards are hard to find, but he's 6'3".
If we sign and develop a guy like Chris Bosh, Elton Brand, or somebody that's a consistent 20/10 rebound, blocked shots + foul shots + assists, you bet I would trade Ellis straight up for a guy like Hinrich. I'd keep Biedrins over Ellis, I'd keep Wright over Ellis if Wright turned out to be any good. As I said before, scoring guards are a dime a dozen and a barely half of those guys play any D or know how to set people up for plays. I bet a few of those guys can even shoot consistently from deep. If not Ellis, you get next year's Russell Westbrook or Jerryd Bayless or Leandrinho Barbosa or Devin Harris, on and on and on. A good set of big men + a decent backcourt containing at least one superstar shooting guard or superstar playmaker is what we need. A 20/10 big man comes every once in a blue moon and the Warriors tend to miss that pick. There are some special cases where I feel the point guard spot holds more priority than drafting a big man and that's when you get guys like Chris Paul or Deron Williams as possible selections. But yes, I would trade away flashiness for a guy that gets things done inside offensively, defensively and on the glass. I'd take Tim Duncan who is arguably the most boring superstar in the nba, but he wins rings. I'll take a grind it out, boring but fundamentally sound snoozefest team if it means more wins. Biedrins is even playing super boring compared to his dunk/block everything days and now he's more efficient. If we can just get a damned power forward that plays tough and can shoot a bit outside + a playmaker that can actually shoot/play D, we can get this franchise rolling. Sjax + a healthy Mags should be more than enough to make the playoffs provided we got a tough, inside/out defensive power forward and a point guard that knows how to play the game on both ends.
