I recently picked a new primary care doctor.

After two visits and exhaustive lab tests, he said I was doing 'fairly well' for my age. A little concerned about that comment, I couldn't resist asking him, 'Do you think I'll live to be 80?' He asked, 'Do you smoke tobacco, or drink beer or wine?' 'Oh no,' I replied. 'I'm not doing drugs, either!' Then he asked, 'Do you eat rib-eye steaks and barbecued ribs? 'I said, 'No, my former doctor said that all red meat is very unhealthy!' Do you spend a lot of time in the sun, like playing golf, sailing, hiking, or bicycling?' 'No, I don't,' I said. He asked, 'Do you gamble, drive fast cars, or have a lot of sex?' 'No,' I said.

He looked at me and said,.... 'Then, why do you friggin' even give a rip?'

    Hello darkness, my old friend
All of those activities are very good for one.

Gambling and sex (if the sex is done safely) are not relevant to one's health.

Because living a healthy life is not about reaching a certain age...it's about not living with infirmaties and pain. Check out someone in their 60s, living with emphysema, and decide if being healthy matters at all, even if you "miss out" on smoking. ;)

I'm not so sure about your teaching parables, ABM. ;)

Be sure to use sun screen. :)

Potential stress from losing is, though.

Ya win some, ya lose some.

Sure, but then you also shouldn't work at a job, be a parent, etc. The idea is to work on handling stress, not to avoid anything that can lead to stress.

You can be healthy and still have fun! ;)

    Here's my motto, seriously:

    "Moderation in everything.................including moderation."

It's seemed to have served me well over the years. :D

Heh heh. A good motto. I like the add-on. Sometimes you even have to throw moderation to the wind and indulge!
