Is it luck or what that Boone keep happens to be the guy guarding the ball-handler at the top of the key?

It's just 2 games, keep in mind (I know this has been said before) this is a YOUNG time, there WILL be nights like this. If the freaking Orlando Magic start out 0 and 2, don't you think any other average squad would have their share of tribulation to deal with? I'm looking at the boxscore (I live in Texas, I cant see the game), the bright spots were of course Carter, then Boone, Lopez and Anderson...on another note, did Yi get injured? The boxscore says he only played for 6 minutes...

This appears to be a type of loss we'll see a lot of this season: we'll play hard, and put up a good effort, but rookie mistakes (turnovers and fouls) will keep us from making that next step.

This was such a winnable game. Warriors coming off a tough overtime loss the night before. This is the Nets home opener and they had a few days of rest and preparation coming off a good win. Way to blow it.

Definitely a winnable game, despite our horrid perimeter defense (or was it just our defense on Jackson?) if Yi decided to show up tonight. He laid a pretty big egg there.

How about our "Vets" start playing like it and not making the Rookie mistakes, Harris looks like a really gifted rookie to me. Makes so many stupid plays.

Yi and Harris (there goes one key) played horrible basketball today. Boone can't make a layup, but at least he found the power within to score some tip-ins in the clutch and keep it close. Carter was amazing again, but he can't be the only one scoring shots.

Simmons and Hayes combined for 2 three pointers and 4-10 from the field(there goes another key) and the Nets allowed 14 offenive boards (and yet another key).

Way too many fouls as well, and I don't blame the refs.

Now the bright spots: the Nets didn't give up and didn't allow the Warriors to extend the lead to 20 and beyond. They somehow were able to keep it close. Anderson and Lopez (despite the fouls) were impressive. I still don't see the quickness in Anderson (ex. the fast break with CDR). Dooling played good D and didn't jack up useless shots like against the Wizards, leading to a solid 9/6 night. Finally, it was good to see Najera play and it was obvious that he'll be a hustle player.

Sean Williams has to see some PT soon or his confidence will sink to negative. Hassell can stay on the bench, though.

Can't be disappointed by this game. The Nets played hard, even when they were down. They played a more experienced team that has playoff aspirations in the more difficult west, and played them even for three of the four quarters.

Obviously, too many fouls, and there were some cheapies called, like the one on Brook at the end of the third quarter.

    Yi had a poor game.

The team will be erratic, but sometimes you can learn more in a lose then in a win.

This is the second game Boone was getting outmatched by the opposing center. He couldn't handle Etan Thomas last game and this game Andris Duncan was unstoppable.

I'm scared what the real Duncan, Stoudamire, Shaq, Ming, and Garnett are going to do.

He needs to box out. He's not physical enough around the boards. The Phoenix game could be ugly.

    Good post. Back to reality.

It's amazing that Yi looked as ineffectual tonight as he did superb the other night. We aren't going to win many games where he plays 17 minutes and scores 0 points.

I agree a poor game by Harris, and Dooling didn't do enough in his stead to make up for it. Anderson had some nice moments and some not so nice moments, but I noticed Frank had the confidence to try him at the 5 briefly when the Nets were going with a small lineup and trying to make their comeback late in the 4.

Hayes continued to show a nice stroke, and he really needs to be getting the majority of minutes between the Simmons/Hayes tandem until/unless their shooting efficacy flip flops.

    Bright spots:

Vince didn't break a bone in his hand
Najera will help this team once he gets some minutes under his belt
Lopez continues to impress and was the victim of a couple of bogus foul calls

well, you've just named all the big men that no one can handle. Boone isn't big enough for Biedrins, who is a significant talent that has just been hindered by Nellie's use of him.

    Who is Andris Duncan? :p

Biendris is a great player, and as Dumpy said you basically listed the best big men in the league. Boone is a decent player and he actually had a 17/14 night today (still can't see how that happened). Lopez is the better defender, and he can easily stop mediocre big men so Boone won't have to.
