So yeah the game is over and the end result was a tie for Albania @ Portugal (Braga). I can't be happier than this. So I watched the whole game this time, one of the channels we get here was showing it. Portugal started to dominate from the opening minutes and continued on for the rest of the game. During 1st half, on the 41st minute, one of the Albania's players got the second yellow card which automatically turns into red and he had to leave the game. All my hopes (and every other Albanian on earth I bet) were down after seeing that we were going to be a player down for the rest of the game. They did a great job of defending during the 2nd half, plus they were lucky at times of course, without a bit of luck you cannot escape with a tie from Braga, Portugal.

    GO ALBANIA!!!

So would you say it was Port choking or Albania stepping up?

More of Portugal choking, especially with Albania being 1 man down. Plus they played at home, they had the fans, etc, everything was in their favor. There were about 10 or 15 Albanian fans in the game. haha

So far we have tied Sweden at home, beaten Malta 3-0, lost to Hungary away 0-2 (this past friday), and now tied Portugal away. Not a bad start considering that Sweden, Portugal and Denmark are in the group.

Here are the standings for Group 1.

Denmark 7 points (3 games played)
Hungary 7 points (4 games played)
Portugal 5 points (4 games played)
Albania 5 points (4 games played)
Sweden 5 points (3 games played)
Malta 0 points (4 games played)

Just to back up my Albanian brothers! This was NO FLUKE Albanian has THE BEST Defense in this whole ECQ without a doubt! They ONLY gave up 2 goals in the whole ECQ right now! That is impressive when you have Sweden and Portugal in your group. Albania didn't let Sweden score! Nor Portugal, but Albania took it soft on the Hungarians and got 2 goals. Other then that, Albania is player great football. They scored 3 goals on Malta, and they have a home game against Hungary on March 28th, 2009 which Albanians should win!

I'm so happy that you guys draw with Portugal, I was hoping for a win but the best thing to do was to play defense against them and that is what you guys did, which I was really IMPRESSED! Albanian goalkeeper is on a whole another level he is WORLD CLASS!

    HAJMO BOSNO i ALBANCI!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I don't know how this post escaped my radar and I didn't see it. hahah

Hvala brate, good luck to BOSNA as well.

Imagine if both of them make it to the World Cup. That would be something. :)

Also imagine Croatia, Bosnia, Serbia and Albania all in the world cup. hahah

Portugal have struggled since Scolari left. I think they will probably still manage to qualify, but I can't see them doing anything in the World Cup.

I agree that Scolari was a big part of that team.
