Who cares if he's in the East? He'll be retired before the Nets are contenders again. AI is a huge expiring contract.
Well when I mean't great I meant GREAT because AI is the man and belongs in the east...not because hes going to hurt us because we garbage regardless Nuggets get: C. Billups A. McDyess Pistons get: AI
Iverson is a non-factor in the scheme of things. I don't think he'll help the Pistons one bit. Billups on the other hand will help the Nuggets. Denver won the trade.
Detroit got $24M off their books over the next two seasons and got back something valuable for this season.
You can see it that way, but I think it's a step closer to rebuilding. I cannot include them into the favorites with AI at PG. (plus they lose mcdyess, which is valuable in the playoffs)
It's 100% about rebuilding. But the difference is they traded for Iverson (useful) instead of Marbury (give up).
wow allen did nothing in denver... absolutely nothing ... no impact whatsoever in this posters opinion
So they've given up on taking another run at the championship? Might as well trade Rasheed, and get some younger blood in, and prepare for the draft, if you're giving up so early into the season.
If I was going to rebuild, I'd rather have Marbury so I'd get a better draft pick. But I guess they want to sell seats, too.
Horrible trade for the Nuggets. There team is just lost. It looks like Detroit is going to make one last run at the championship, and if this doesn't work out, they can just blow it all up. I hope John Paxson is on the phone talking a trade for Rasheed Wallace. Bulls need a center, and Sheed would make a nice pairing with Rose, since it looks like we will be competitive this year since Rose is a superstar on arrival.
wow, wasn't expecting this! I never thought Pistons would trade Billups...guess I was wrong. Not sure what AI's gonna do in Detroit, though.
Well I guess that other shoe finally dropped. Warkentien did say he was planning something big. Don't see why Detroit did this other than save some money, but if that was the case they should have just traded those two for youth and picks. Detroit is no longer a top tier team in the east, imho
Yeah, but it's weird to take a step away from the elite when they're one of 4 or 5 teams who've got a good shot at winning everything.
ha and people laughed when i took JR Smith that yes that high in the fantasy league...i told everyone that im expecting an AI trade by the end of the season and JR Smith will explode like he did late in the season last year. Also in the Nets Fantasy Redux this past week my team the Blah Blah Blahs went 7-1-1 =P on the road for another fantasy championship
also did anyone notice that espn is also reporting that McDyess is expected to get bought out by the Nuggets? so im betting he returns to Detroit.
With Rasheed's deal and now AI's deal off the books, that's about 35-40 million off the books. I think both teams got better in the immediate future, with Billups, he's more of a distributor than AI and JR-Melo will benefit. AI gives them an immediate offensive boast that they need big time. With Tayshaun and Stuckey both can handle playmaking roles.
