I'll find out. I know that last night was our 1st game shown up there. Spread the word that we are on now in SEA! About the quality of the signal, there is a certain somebody who I'm sure is reading this thread that would be very interested in your quality control comments.
Rudy was wearing wristbands in the Olympics so all us Blazer fans could tell him apart from the rest because we were all watching on that damn small picture screen from nbc.com.....duh
Comcast broadcasts some of the CSNW games on channel 788 in HD and they are similar to other HD broadcasts. The SD / analog broadcasts on 37 do suck but are better than none at all . . . . . Regarding Rudy - maybe he was wearing the wristbands in China due to the humidity. Just a crapshot.
Do you get MOJO there? Thats the channel it shows the game on HD in Portland. It doesn't however show it in the cable listings for some reason (still hoping they'll fix that this year), so you'll have to check manually.
On the Spurs game that was broadcast on KGW and ESPN, I flipped back and forth between them. I have a Non-HD DirecTV setup, and the ESPN picture was sharper and cleaner, as well as brighter. I ordered Comcast with HD, and I will be pretty peeved if CSNNW provides poor picture quality. I will watch every game available in HD that I can. I think though, that I am going to be provided an All-Digital cable box. Analog boxes are being phased out in the Comcast system so they can kill the analog. They are supposed to be dual casting all the basic channels in analog and digital right now. The analog channels have chronic PQ problems, unless you have an absolutely perfect cable run and distribution box, etc. Digital can have problems too, but is more likely to work/not work, and you can get a truck roll. With crappy analog, the cable companies are notorious for doing little to fix it. Long story short, I will know more in a few weeks, but I think for those who have poor picture with CSNNW, 1) get an HD box from Comcast and watch that channel instead. Most games are in HD. Or, 2) Find out about switching to an all digital box to see if that improves the PQ. http://www.dslreports.com/shownews/Portland-First-Comcast-Market-To-Go-All-Digital-98814<!-- google_ad_section_end -->
As of Dec 1 MOJO is being cancelled. 788 will then be: CSNNW HD & FSN HD They are also adding Speed HD and Fox News HD (So now we can see their tears 24/7 in glorious High Def).
The HD broadcast on Friday was very nice... good stuff... it appears as if the picture only sucks when it goes through Comcast. Figures =) Now... Verizon only has SD CSNW... but the picture was worse than SD... it was like 70s fuzzy. If it doesn't get better I may just listen to radio. If it is true that CSNW also sucks for Comcast... then good grief... the Blazers really screwed themselves inking a deal with them.
I hope this is for Seattle, too. MOJO was showing the Huskies game, I think. Or Oregon State? Something other than the Blazers is all that I remember Ed O.
Don't know what will happen in Seattle. Found this. http://www.avsforum.com/avs-vb/showpost.php?p=14933437&postcount=12415
That's no surprise. They only showed HD for home games on MOJO last season. No clue if that will still be the case with this new channel or not.
Did you see the link a few posts above? It discusses the situation. Story says Comcast is transitioning now. What they are doing is swithcing to All-Digital cable boxes for cable box users. You will need some sort of device, or possibly your existing TV or equiptment with a QAM tuner as long as Comcast doesn't encrypt. http://www.dslreports.com/shownews/Portland-First-Comcast-Market-To-Go-All-Digital-98814 http://www.engadgethd.com/2008/10/31/comcast-plans-to-go-all-digital-in-portland/ Until Comcast gets every subscriber switched they won't be able to turn off the bandwith hogging analog feeds.
From what I understand it appears that the home games get the HD treatment, while the road games do not. Possibly CSNW does not have a mobile HD setup?
Blazer Broadcasting not CSNW (or KGW) broadcast the games. CSNW and KGW get the games from Blazer Broadcasting.
