Marc Gasol is killing Beans. Al Harrington looks horrible...trade him for scraps...please. This is getting ridiculous. Every move or shot he makes is hurried unnecessarily, his shots from post are complete prayers, and he's making all these unforced errors left and right. Seriously, bench him forever. Glad to see Marco in the game. Wright looks lost. Maggette is injured. I think we might see Marcus Williams and Anthony Randolph tonight.
What the fuck??? Just checked the boxscore and apparently Marc Gasol is either an allstar, or the Warriors have no defense at all...
He looks like an all-star but the Warriors are not denying him the ball at all. This is an UGLY game. I would rather have Nellie bench the starters so we can see the young guys. Not happening...very frustrating, but I'm being patient.
This game was complete bullshit. I'm really frustrated with the lineup Nellie put in. It obviously wasn't working early on so why did he stick with it? Maggette and Harrington were chucking up complete prayers with a hand in their face. The fourth quarter accentuated every problem the Warriors have this season and will continue to have unless something drastic happens (Harrington needs to go). I'm not going to list it since we all know what they are... EDIT: So Nellie puts in Randolph, Marco, and Wright with 1:30 left in the game. WTF.
Marc Gasol played like an all-star -- his brother Pau. 4Q should've been garbage time as the Warriors' shots weren't falling and it was game over.
What happened? The Grizzlies are one of the worst defensive teams in the league, but the Warriors only managed to score 79 points. This is an inexcusable loss for the Warriors. SJax mentioned how contract discussions got in the way of team chemistry last season, it looks like those issues might have resurfaced already with the Al Harrington-Don Nelson spat. Warriors need to continue cleaning house and getting rid of guys who don't want to be here. Too bad they couldn't get in on the Chauncey Billups deal.
Mags, Jax and Harrington are all sloppy ball hogs, while Biendrins is fukin old faithful over here. Yet, those three knuckle heads refuse to play basketball and feed him the ball. They keep jacking up their sloppy, lazy fade-away bricks with no spirit or enthusiasm whatsoever. Mags just looks like he doesn't give a sh!t with those turnarounds. Just toss it up and whatever. And Harrington will airball 5 straight and keep shooting like he's Kobe. This team is a joke right now and frankly i hate to say it but Jax ain't cut out to be the "leader" of the team. We need an all-star in here to be the leader. We need a true starting PG. We do not need a few clowns who play reach on defense and then jack up every shot they can. We do not need need guys who stand around while their teammates are hustling for loose balls, and then on the other end refuse to reward those teammates for their hustle, instead going one-on-five and tossing an over the shoulder prayer. It must be pretty demoralizing to be Azibuike, work your a$$ off to fight for a loose rebound, give it to Jax, sprint down court, get wide open in the lane for a lay-up, only to watch Jax look at you in the eyes, then look away, then go one-on-five, like a full-back through the defensive line, fumble and stumble, toss the ball up off his knees into Gasol's chest as he falls down, and then get up and mad-dog the ref while you run back down to try to cover Jax's wide-open man. Uh.. yeah, this team sucks.
The good news is we play Memphis this Friday at home. We better take it to them. I'll be at the Nuggets game watching Chauncy Billups show us how to run a team.
I know, dude, that was the deal to make. Harrington,Wright + Bellinelli for Billups + filler? Or something? The Nuggets just got a LOT better.
Your description reminds me of some of the runs I've had at 24 Hour Fitness. I had a bad feeling about Maggette in Nellie's offense. I watched him plenty when he was on the Clippers and he's become a chucker the last two seasons. He does drive to the rim occassionally, but he'll take a low percentage jumper when his defender gives him space to shoot. A few years ago, Maggette would lower his shoulder and plow his way into drawing fouls and shooting a high clip at the charity stripe. However, his body got beat up playing this style and he hasn't been as aggressive ever since. Landing a big money contract on a bad team makes it even harder to motivate him into the player he once was. Harrington is streaky as they come. I also feel bad for Biedrins and the younger guys working hard to compete, while the vets play a street ball brand of hoops.
I wouldn't give up on Maggette just yet. He did get injured (not good news). The last few games (except for a few moments), he was taking it to the rim. Here are his FT's the last four games: 9-10 6-9 13-15 5-5 If he can keep getting to the line (and stay healthy), that will prove his worth. I can forgive Jax. He's learning to play without Baron and he hasn't done too bad for the most part. He is a leader but he needs some help.
Tough way to end the first roadtrip of the season after some decent performances to kick it off. But that's kind of what happens when there's no star on the team and everyone is just tired and not getting into the groove. We need someone like Monta back, and perhaps this is where we kind of miss Baron Davis to be the boss and set that groove for the team to get in and to dig deeper. But in the meantime, I suppose it would have been nicer to see some other guys get more PT. Everyone on the team, according to the box score, just seemed to be cold. I guess Andris and Demarcus were the only two who shot the ball decently well.
Man that was disgusting, AO your assessment was right on. What's up with those refs though? I'm not saying the refs are the reason the Warriors lost because they sucked, but you're telling me a player (Biedrins) who gets 16 points and 22 rebounds gets NO foul shots? He was fouled NOT ONE SINGLE TIME? That is complete bullshit. For some reason they just keep treating him like some rookie and he never gets a call. It works the other way as well, he had a clean block on Gasol that was called a foul too. Thank god Harrington wants to be traded and I'd seriously be reconsidering that Stephen Jackson extension right now. I'm the most disappointed in Maggette though, it's like all the bad parts of Baron all over again. AO is right, he just doesn't look like he even cares.
Here's my assessment: We couldn't hit outside jumpers (which killed our inside game) and the refs basically called in favor of Memphis. Biedrins was getting hit on the arm and they never gave him the benefit of the doubt when a shot was missed because of the contact on the arm. Same thing happened to Azubuike which they rightfully reversed on a incorrect charge call. These types of bad calls happened all night. Marc Gasol had too much size advantage against Biedrins defensively and offensively. All Biedrins had was quickness and heart. He couldn't space the floor like Marc's brother would have and therefore got denied a bunch of times. Biedrins was essentially a power forward playing against a really heavy, wide, tall player and those matchups are hard without 4 other guys pulling their weight and moving defenses around. We could have neutralized this threat if we decided to run, but that required us to deflect the ball a lot more and go smaller. Going smaller meant we'd have to shoot well in order to punish defenses that crowd the paint. We'd have to hustle a lot more to deny post entry passes and we'd have to get guys to pressure the hell out of the ball. We're a big team that desperately needs guys who can shoot. We just had nobody who can shoot. Also for whatever reason, AH saw more playing time than Turiaf. Turiaf could have been used to stop Gasol somewhat I'd like to think. Rony Turiaf is a game changer inside the paint, Why the freakin hell did they not use him? Screw Harrington at PF, that shit doesn't work if he ain't solving problems defensively or shooting the ball. He doesn't even help out Sjax with making plays. We got no pure point guard and CJ Watson is hurt. Also, our main man Sjax is playing almost an entire game's worth a minutes every game thus far and he's on the road.
Man tonight... I'd like to think the veterans shooting so poorly had much to do with fatigue and Maggette's hamstring injury and Nelly's reluctance to use matchups that have helped us in the last few games (as in Turiaf + Biedrins together at the same time works far better defensively than Biedrins + any other forward). But tonight the shooting was so awful... Somebody ought to call Dorothy and tell the Wizard we know who stole all their bricks. I mean even if Orlando (with Dwight Howard) lost to the Grizzlies, the Warriors acted like this was an already won game. No sense of urgency. But that could also be fatigue maybe and Al Harrington being a punk. Ah I just want to say it's all Harrington's fault. Whatever happens it's Al's fault. He's got the Troy Murphy effect on everyone around him.
Not anymore. The Grizz are a hardcore D first team now and they got two rookie starters in Marc Gasol and Darrell Arthur. I wish the Warriors can play D like the Grizz .
