Blake is perfect for the Warriors; hell he's one of my favorites out there because watch him, he's not a defensive liability and he's pass first but can still shoot a good percentage from outside. Yet still people think he's the problem. Al needs to leave. So people can see him fail again.
I like Blake, but hopefully he's improved his functional strength since his last couple of years. He's got the quickness, basketball IQ, and shooting touch. That's enough to make one successful at the point guard position. Al definitely needs to leave. God, he plays like such a rookie and he wonders why Nelson treats him like a rookie. I swear sometime it is Harrington's basketball IQ/basketball awareness that kills him or it's his general lack of polish in everything. He gets stuffed on predictable inside offensive moves, he commits really dumb turnovers, he over-complicates the game, he pretty much plays a style that can't escape the wrath of Barnett (who is a nitpick on nba fundamentals). Al's hands aren't that good, his inside touch is not that good, and his feet look like lead. He's an absolute wash in a direct trade for Troy Murphy at times because he's a big guy that doesn't really defense or offense like one. I still think Al works a little harder defensively, but he's simply outmatched (outmuscled and outquicked). We need somebody better. I'm all for starting Turiaff over Al and using Al as a bench guy. There's just things about Al's game that bug me just like Murphy, Pietrus, Jamison, and Baron... Meanwhile I don't know why, but I'm not so bothered by Jrich, Maggette, Biedrins, Sjax, Azubuike, Monta's games.
So I guess Harrington is getting all this playing time to showcase his talents for a trade? I never understood that whole concept. I mean, you are trying to dump a guy, chances are he's not very good or you wouldn't be trying to dump him, so how is giving him more playing time going to make your case? Just the opposite I would argue. Anyone GM watching a few Warrior games this year wouldn't trade a bag of chips for Harrington. He not just not helping you win, he's like actively negative...if that makes sense.
I have no clue what is going on, but he is killing the Warriors more than Sjax and Maggette on poor shooting nights. Here's some pluses that Sjax will bring even on a bad shooting night: Sjax: He brings defense. He always look to pass if a play is there. He simplifies difficult plays for the team with his passing. He is the extension of the coach as a Captain and primary playmaker Here's Maggette's pluses: He's a tremendous foul shooter and knows how to draw fouls He rebounds like a big guy He's a lot more energetic He's noticeably stronger fighting against guys bigger than him. Al Harrington's pluses: He rebounds his own misses meaning he doesn't give up on his own plays He shoots decently for a 6'9, 245 lb player. He can do a little bit of everything Al Harrington as a starter is all filler and no thriller. He doesn't do one thing that's outstanding except for hogging the ball and taking set shots. We might as well trade for Vladmir Radmanovic or Tim Thomas.
As I wrote before, I blame Kawakami for the timing, not breaking the story. I do not know when he got the scoop, but considering the amount of source, he probably got the scoop at least couple days before the opening day. However, he waited till the opening day to shift the spotlight to himself, and this really isn't the first time he did. There is no question that he has a strong opinion, and his articles are interesting to read. However, he also gains attentions by making story bit more cynical and negative, which can be damaging to sports teams. Obviously, you have a reason to like him since he is your golf buddy. But, ever since he openly campaigned against Muss/Saint and blindly promoted Monty/Mullin ver.1, I didn't like him. That really went well, didn't it?
I think Kawakami is a dueche for every reason you stated earlier. Janny's the only legitimate NBA/Warriors voice in the Bay.
