With Oden out for a few weeks and the Blazers looking for more aggressive play in the low post, I am wondering what the reason is that Randolph hasn't been tapped to back-up either LaMarcus or Joel? Anyone have any information?

I dunno, I'm guessing that Diogu is still ahead of him on the depth chart ... and if anything it looks like Nate is tightening up his rotation, giving more minutes to Lamarcus and Joel rather than going deeper into the bench -- Channing's minutes are down from last year's average, for what it's worth.

Because Frye is a better player, hes also taller and deserves a oppertunity before Randolph

He is an insurance policy and a practice player. We won't see him unless there are more injuries or there is a blowout.

Shalik Randolph's status is that he sucks. We'll check back with him in a few weeks to see if his status has changed.

I think he should start in place of Outlaw. :)

Personally, I think Randolph was signed in the likelihood that Frye and Diogu are moved in a trade. I feel as if Portland's more interested in moving them than moving Travis. If all goes well, Travis would be LA's main back up and Randolph the third PF off the bench.

Pritchard has been fortunate and opportunistic in signing players to lower-than-market contracts. Travis could start on many other teams around the league. Had the stars aligned just right, he may have been able to make considerably more money than he is. Instead, we have a super sub signed all the way through next season for $7.5M.

    Brilliant.
Channing did not receive an extension, which sort of surprised me.
