I can't help but think that all this talk about Travis for Conley is just to make Greg feel more comfortable and more happy. Not in the same sense like during the draft we were all like "wouldn't it be cool to get Mike and Greg?" but in the sense that "Greg is having a really hard time, maybe we should try to bring in his boy to help him transition to the NBA."

Is Outlaw worth that? What happens to Sergio or Bayless? Ok, move Bayless to SG... then what do we do with Rudy? Can he play 3 more (I think he can, but)? Do we trade Blake too?

    This is a sticky situation!!!

No need to share your intimate self gratifying moments with the rest of the board.

On the subject of Greg Oden and Travis for Conley deal... It's great value for Outlaw. If I was a young team moving forward I would certainly take Conley over Outlaw but we are very deep with mediocre point guards. I think Bayless will do his damage from the 1 spot, Conley would be a very promising backup.

Travis isn't a very good basketball player. We wouldn't really be losing very much. Rudy can easily take those shots, and more than likely take better ones than fade away 18 footers. Batum can take some minutes and defend 100 times better than Travis

Outlaw is in a position to become the third-string small forward in December. Conley is a 20 year-old PG who was a high lottery pick a couple of drafts ago.

This deal would make some sense even if Oden weren't around, and I think the "he'd make Oden more comfortable" thing is pretty ridiculous.

Did the Blazers care about "making Oden comfortable" when they threw McRoberts into the Pacers deal?

When Webster is healthy we have 3 SF's that deserve playing time. But there isn't enough to go around. One should be traded. Of those, Outlaw probably has the least upside (debatable point).

    So why not him?

I've gone back and forth on this. Currently the flavor-of-the-minute for me is that this isn't a good deal.

It just doesn't help us this year, and while I know that the end goal is a championship, I only see Portland making a move that both helps us now and in seasons to come.

    Vote No on Proposition Conley!

Wow... I am bursting in laughter. That joke was priceless. How did you come up with such a witty retort? Remarkable.

So the logic is (Let's make sure I have this straight):

    1. You assume Greg Oden is uncomfortable.
    2. Bringing in a friend will make him comfortable.
    3. His friend isn't comfortable in the NBA either.
    4. Combining two uncomfortable players will somehow make them both comfortable?

    :drumroll:

If they bring in Conley for Travis it sure as hell isn't because of his relationship with Greg it's because they believe he's the PG of the future for us.

How do you know that Conley is uncomfortable in the NBA? Without a link, I just do not think I can trust you. I need links please.

Not everything has a link. I am going off the fact he is not producing, and not excelling in Memphis. That, is a fact, which you can find the links for yourself by going and looking over some box scores, and read about how Connely is not finishing games, he is being yanked.

I can see this as a good move for our second unit.

Bayless complements Roy well. Jerryd is actually the perfect guard to have next to Roy as he can defend and could score in bunches.

Conley is a pure PG and would complement Rudy very well too.

    PG: Bayless SG: Roy

    PG: Conley SG: Rudy

Very balanced and both backcourts (polar opposites) complement each other to a T.

Another unproven, mediocre PG to make another player happy... Wow first Sergio now Conley, that's no way to run a team.

Your position is that we got Sergio a year before we drafted Rudy just to make him happy?

Oh and while I'm at it, isn't Outlaw and Roy pretty close?

What do you mean? Why wouldn't he be here?

He's a 22 year-old guy who's on his rookie contract. He's currently good enough to be in the rotation, and he's young enough to still have a lot of room to grow.
