Not the way I see it, he's still here to make Rudy feel all comfy and cozy. The same reason people want Conley to make his way here. Sergio after taking steps back last year probably got a gift being on this roster, he's turnover prone, he can't defend and IMO Petri should have taken his spot. Of course this is just one person's oppinion.
I don't think that many people on this board feel that Conley should be acquired to make Oden feel comfortable. In fact, I think that almost no one believes that. I would be in favor of acquiring him because he's a 20 year-old pure PG prospect that was a high lottery pick a year ago and still has a world of potential. I also don't think that it makes any sense that Sergio would be playing at all if he was JUST on the team to make Rudy feel comfortable. Ed O.
Believe it or not but Sergio is better than Kop. Don't let summer league fool you. On the other hand I don't think Sergio will be any better than Blake is. If Sergio was kept here to comfort Rudy a little bit that's fine. Unlike Oden, Rudy is coming here from a different country and speaks broken english. I also wouldn't be surprised if the Blazers made some deal with Rudy that they would keep Sergio if Rudy would come over this year. Besides, Sergio is cheap anyways. -- As far as Conley goes, I'm not sure if he would make the Blazers that much better, and I'd definitely rather have Bayless getting minutes. If trading for Conley means less minutes for Bayless, I don't like the trade.
Ok, so now we trade a player to pick up more potential?? Lateral moves are not what I'd like to see from KP, we need a PG that's more than potential. Conley would be another maybe next year he'll get better player. As far as Sergio is concened, the guy should never get minutes before Bayless and that soon should change. I'll state again this is my oppinion and I stand by it.
Great idea. Trade a veteran with a defined role for yet another inexperienced PG. I'm not against trading Outlaw, but would it be ridiculous to expect him to be a part of a Blazer package for a veteran player at either the PG or SF position?
