I know it's early to say but it's got to be Darko, he may be young, but he isnt even promising, his only real skill is blocking shots, and other then that he entire game is mediocre, even breakout players look like they have some promise, Darko doesnt even look like he deserves to be in the NBA, not to mention all the great players he was picked above.

Kandi is a much better player then Darko, and the best player in that draft(VC) is no where near as good as the best player darko was drafte over(dwade), it's got to be Darko.

Hes been in the league for 3 years on a stacked team [IMG] You cant call him a bust yet because he hasn't had a chance to prove himself.

People forget the Piston starters are also there backups. Prince is the backup Power Forward, Rasheed is the backup center, Mcdyess backs up both.Thats alot of talent to be fighting time for when your 19-20 years old.<div class='quotetop'>QUOTE </div><div class='quotemain'>even in his few minutes he's shown nothing, Breakout players show potential before they break out, JO looked great even during his limited playing time.</div> Unlike JO. He never played in America before. You expect him to come over and learn the system that fast?

Sam Bowie. He was picked over MJ. I guess anyone that was picked over MJ would be considered as a bust [IMG]

I dont think it was a stupid idea at all for the Blazers to pick Bowie over Jordan. Bowie had a similar college career to Jordans. The Blazers picked according to there needs. At the time it was a center. Mychal Thompson was good but they knew he would have been a better fit at power foward. The one strong spot the Blazers had on there roster was shooting guards so that may be why they passed up on Jordan. They had Jim Paxson and the rising star Clyde Drexler, plus they had small forward Kiki Vandeweghe who could also play shooting guard. Therefore they had no need for a shooting guard at all. In the 80's it was obvious that you need a good big man to win and Bowie was a good center with a nice jump shot and rare passing ability for his size. So why would the blazers pass up on there need to add another shooting guard? If they would have made the pick of Jordan before anybody knew how there NBA careers would turn out People would have raised eyebrows and wondered what the Blazers were thinking picking another shooting guard.

Good stuff. But, you have to be a fool to say that he wasnt a bust. The guy did zlitch in the NBA as a top prospect coming out of college. I agree with you, and I would proabably had drafted Bowie as well. But the fact of the matter is that he will and should go down as one of the biggest flops in NBA history. Even though knee problems caused most of it.

Yeah it's easy for everyone to make fun of the blazers to pick Bowie over Jordan now, but back then Bowie was supposed to be really good coming out of college and Ballaholic called it correct, they needed a big man like Bowie. Also nobody was making fun of them at the time when they picked Bowie, when it turned out that the greatest player to ever play the game came after Bowie, then it was joke time for the blazers.

Yeah you could do that for any player. You could say that someone like Potapenko was a bust for going ahead of Kobe Bryant but you can't blame coaches and GM's and other people who draft for not recognizing who will be the best player in the draft and who will be the worst. It's a very hard thing to do.

I would also like to add to my above post.People dont realize Bowie was a much better player than Kandi or Darko. The man was an amazing passer for his size.

Kind of off the topic of this thread but I didn't realize that Jordan, Barkley, and Hakeem were drafted all in the top 5 in the '84 draft. Man what a draft.

The 2003 class may think other wise:-Lebron-Darko (if he ever gets traded)-Melo-TJ Ford (if he stays healthy)-Bosh-Hinrich-Josh HowardThis class could be better than the '84...only time will tell.

Darko can't be a bust yet. He hasn't really played. When he does get a lot of time in games he does pretty good as of late. For a while he was coming in at the end and hitting his long jump shoots but hasn't received much PT lately. He hasn't become a bust yet but if has to stay in Detroit not getting PT he will be. He shouldn't have been drafted at 2 but he isn't a bust yet. I can't think of any busts off the top of my head but there a lot of guys that should have been drafted lower but were still decent players.
