This is our first true test of the season. As a fan of both teams, but more of a Lakers fan as I been with the Lakers since I could comprehend basketball, whereas I'm a Rockets fan cause of my Shanghainese brethern. The Rockets have had struggles on the offensive side of the ball, they are very stagnant and get into one on one situations alot. Also, if Yao is pushed too far out, they won't give him the ball. T-Mac is tired and still recovering from injury, so you gotta go hard against him. Their defense has also not looked like the traditional Rockets toughnosed defense, I attribute that to the loss of Shane Battier, but I thought Ron would step up, which he has, but only individually and hasn't transferred that mentality to the whole team. Rafer Alston is playing like crap, but don't let him get hot. I still see a Lakers win by 9-12. Lakers win 103-92.
Thank god there's a game today. I'm getting pissed off at the schedule because why the fuck did they give us one week rests after each of our last two games? BS Chances are, we're gonna start off the game slow and sloppy again because our guys haven't played for like an entire week (again). Just hope we can get it together soon, the Rockets are definitely beatable. Anyways, I dunno if I'm even gonna watch this, because the Eagles play on SNF. Oh well... Go Lakers!
Someone help authentiq!!! I just got home, and its a timeout by the Lakers, Houston up 16-7 after a 12-0 run.
Bad pass by Vlad. Turnover. Bynum missed a jumper on Scola, he should take it in against a smaller big like Scola. Fish on the jumper. Yao on a great right handed hook. Kobe turned the ball over. Foul on Pau against Scola.
We're shooting 25% and have 6 turnovers and its not even halfway thru the first quarter... Rusty as hell cause of these long breaks. These breaks mean that we'll have more games in fewer days in the future, like for the next month or so we have a back to back every week.
Another turnover by the Lakers. Rafer missed the floater, but Yao put it back. Pau got fouled on the layup by Ron, Ron has 2 fouls so he is sitting. Brooks is coming in for Ron, so we gotta watch out for his shooting and his shooting.
A blocking foul on Hayes when Trevor drove the lane. Rockets over the limit. Trevor made both free throws. Landry is in for Scola...gotta watch out for his energy. Landry offensive rebound, Brooks made the three. Bad pass by Lamar. Turnover. Rockets are up 13-2 on 2nd chance points and we have 8 turnovers. Brooks missed a layup, but Landry got the board. Brooks And 1, fouled by Gasol. Made the free throw. Kobe made the last shot of the quarter. End of the 1st Quarter. We're down 28-16.
We look rusty as fuck. All these days off have really made us rusty. We aren't boxing out and going after all those boards. Rockets have been struggling all season with their offense, because of how stagnant they can be, but with all these offensive boards, that's okay for them. We really got to step up our defense, and stop turning the ball over on offense.
I'm not surprised we're down double digits. Like I said, don't expect us to start off well. Getting a week off of no basketball and then having to come in and face a top team in the league is difficult. Our last game against the Clippers, which we played after getting like a week off as well, we started off playing like shit. Luckily for us, the Clippers aren't a good team so we ended up blowing past them at the end. Tonight is different. The team needs to get its act together quick if they expect to win. Knock off the rust this quarter, and get back to business. The Rockets are not a better team than us, and we shouldn't lose to them. End of story.
Landry made a little floater in the lane. Brooks scored. We need to get it to Andrew, I mean he has about 6in. on Hayes who is 6'8", and they are single coverage on him. Trevor scored on the layup. Sasha got the steal. Landry on the hold. Andrew scored on the jumper after the shake n bake!
