I'll play along, just for fun In games getting starters minutes: Bynum: 9pts, 8.5 rbs, 2.5 blks Joel: 5pts, 10 rbs, 1 blk Is Joel almost as good as Bynum?
Here are some stats to mess with the warm fuzzies: Average number of games/season played by Trevor Ariza in the last 5 years: less than 30 (36%) Average number of games/season played by Andrew Bynum over his career: 54 (66%) Average number of games/season played by Lamar Odom over his career: 68 (79%) Average number of games/season played by Pau Gasol in the last 5 years: less than 68 (83%) Number of times Kobe Bryant has played for National Teams in the offseason before: 0 Number of career games Kobe Bryant has played: 871 By comparison, the "over the hill" Allen Iverson has played 834; the "showing wear and tear" Ray Allen has played 870 and the "heading for retirement" Steve Nash has played 867.
No kidding. Fellow Blazers fans: Please for the love of Christ cease and desist with the Oden> [fill-in-the-blank] crap until he's actually made it through a whole month healthy. I'm not hugely superstitious, but ... well, I'm not going to even finish that thought for fear of adding even more bad juju.
Thank you. I also want to make it clear that even though I post against these Oden comparisons and projections. And I'm a Lakers fan, I still think Oden will be a great player. A defensive, rebounding beast if he can get healthy. I don't want my recent posts to cloud what I really feel about Oden.
Who said I was defending the Blazers? I was criticizing the Lakers. If you like, imagine those points being made by a Lakers fan - it won't alter the point at all. There are two main reasons for the Lakers' vast improvement in defense: Ariza and Bynum. Both of them are very fragile. If Oden is even more fragile it doesn't change that fact one bit.
If the Knicks win half their games, D'Antoni is coach of the year no matter what anyone does. As for the Lakers, all I have to say is 24 point choke job, 39 point blow out.
Wasn't Bynum injured too? I was at the Staples Center the other night and they're selling Bynum jerseys with the NBA Finals logo on it, lol. What a joke!
I have disable the signatures, you will have to post it for me. It is really irrelevant if Oden posts better stats then Bynum, as long as the Lakers win it all I don't think the fans or the organization will pay much attention to that.
The Lakers just need to be strong come playoff time. There is no need to play 100% of the regular season games. And if there is a guy who knows how to handle a situation like this, it's Phil Jackson.
Why don't you take a look at games played and minutes per before you take a stab at Bynums rookie season. The kid hardly touched the court as a rookie. He epitomized the human victor cigar. He only played in garbage time. To compare his rookie season to Oden's is just ludicrous and stupid. And just to make life easier for ya.... Bynums Rookie Season: 46 games played and 7:24 per game. Yea, certainly a lot of opportunities. Seriously, do your homework before you throw shit out there like that.
