do you even think before you type? what was he before last season? was he an a-hole then, before he was a "champ"? just cause you win doesn't mean you get a free pass.

and i think, RayRay, Paul, and the rest of the celts would disagree that he took them from the cellar. he was one part of that championship.

Other people who've won championships that are of dubious character (some are just funny...some might be @$$holes)...

    Mike Tyson
    Nick Saban
    Mark Madsen
    Tony Stewart
    Pete Rose
    Roger Clemens
(I don't know enough about NHL...but I'm sure there've been @$$hole goons on each championship squad)
I could go on, but I'm getting bored. A championship does not a respectable person make. And you say KG won MVP and would've won a title if his helper was healthy, but that he didn't need help in Boston?

    True.

Koby won multiple championships and people hate on him. KG does try to act the thug a lot and that turns me off but he is a great player. Koby too. Both facts are not exclusive.

I like how Calderon got an assist with Garnett gaurding him tightly. It amazes me that he still had the court vision to make that pass even with a big 7 footer on him

He got into the head of his opponent, and was probably the reason they won the game.

Clapping and yelling at players when they are shooting is lame. Taunting players like Garnett did... even worse. Talking smack I am fine with... getting pumped off... np, Shaq does the same type of stuff... most stars do... but Garnett clapping in his face, the league would have a hard time explaining how that wasn't a T. It DEFINITELY would be on the road.

Calderon is legit. He made KG lose his composure.

I agree, I mean to me that stuff isn't too serious cause you know in streetball you see people do it all the time, but with the NBA the way its been lately and how it doesnt take much to warrant a T these days, I was surprised the refs didn't call the T to settle him down or anything.

Bad grammar on my part lol

We have to respect him because he won a ring? Heck No! Guy is an ass, period.

If he were a serial rapist who walked, would you say "gotta respect his skills, and he got away with it too, awesome dude!"?

Of course not. Having skills, even other-worldly-like skills, does not make up for being a complete jerk.

It is silly to debate Garnett's importance to winning a championship, it is immaterial. He is not a good person.
That's what the original poster said, and he's right.

Garnett is a prick and I don't respect him at all. I think it was on the other board I started a thread about how much I hate him and we had people coming from the Boston board trying to defend him. He is just a prick... and just weird.

Turned into? He's always been the same. He's punched at least 2 teammates that I can recall. He's gotten into plenty of shouting matches with guys before.

    Intense. Talented. Asshole.

And who's to say it wasn't Calderon that started it anyway?

Didn't Ray Allen have a problem with Garnett, something to do with his cursing in practice?

How is Madsen of "dubious character"? Dubious talent sure, but I've never heard anything negative regarding him personally. Am I missing something?

I didn't mind KG too much when he was in Minny, but since he's been in Boston, I've come to realize he is an asshole. Now that he's on a winning team and the defending champ, he can all act like he's big time to everyone else.
    Respect your opponent dumbass.

How did that nonsense not earn him a T? The crap that he is allowed to get away with is ridiculous. Dude's a punk. Learn to win with class if you want some respect.

I don't this is a new development. I remember reading an article last year detailing how Garnett essentially trashtalked the Blazers into submission. The writer was probably exaggerating to some degree, but that definitely seemed to be what he was trying to do last night.

Despite being a fan of the team he was doing it to, I have no problem with it. He's not playing a physically dirty game, he's trying to psychologically mess with his opponents. If that works, then its fair game. This was in the midst of a very close, intense game, and KG had the right to try to find any edge he could. NBA players are grown men and don't need to be babied by overprotective officiating. Calderon demonstrated that by taking KG's trashtalk and coming right back with his own.

He's always been an asshole...talented, no doubt, but an asshole none the less.

Remember a couple of years back, before a game in PDX, when he decided to intimate Webster by throwing a ball at his head, for no apparent reason. Webs was 19 at the time, KG must have been pushing 30. How often do you see him intimidating Karl Malone, D. Howard, or any of the other bigs?

He's a punk, no respect required.
