I've been hearing Sean Williams's name of the NJ Nets being thrown around. From what I've heard, he's a very explosive player, and teams want to trade next to nothing to get him. Can we/should we package a deal to get a player that, to me, is similar to a raw Trevor Ariza?
We don't really have players/salaries to get the deal done. I wouldn't mind him for cheap, but apparently I hear he has attitude problems, and I'm not too sure why he got so many minutes last year, and then is relegated to warming the bench this season. I'd take the risk if the price is low, but I don't think we have the pieces to get a deal done, unless the Nets throw somebody else into the deal. Also, even if we do get him, he's essentially going to be in the same exact spot as he was in New Jersey. On the bench. We don't have any minutes to give him to play, and I'm not too sure how he'll feel about that. We're on a mission to win the championship, I don't really want us to have to babysit a youngster unhappy with playing time.
While I like Sean Williams' potential, he'd have no spot on this team. He's struggling for minutes in Jersey and it wouldn't change moving to LA.
He could replace Mihm after this season and develop in our system under Kareem. It'd be nice to have another front court player with a high ceiling of talent on the roster.
It would be...but would his attitude allow it? He's already got a pissy attitude playing in New Jersey, in part because he's not getting minutes? Would a change of scenery really help that much? I mean, that's all he'd be getting, because there's no way he's getting a huge amount of PT here.
It's probably an issue for him because the team is losing. If it doesn't involve any of our core players being traded I'd support bringing him in.
you're completely making things up. he doesn't have a pissy attitude. He's not playing because he has the skills of a 5 but the size of a smallish 4. He has no range on his shot. he also sometimes makes bonehead decisions on the court. He is very raw--think of Tyrus Thomas. His athleticism is off the charts, but he is kind of a goofball, and doesn't seem to have an over-developed/obsessive competitive nature, which is kind of necessary to succeed in the NBA. We hope he succeeds, but he won't play the 5 over Brook Lopez/Josh Boone, and he won't play the 4 over Yi/Najera.
