Mayo has been playing great and his FG% is much higher than I expected it would be. I said it all last year, that with a better shot selection Mayo would play 30 MPG his rookie year.. Well hes playing 40.
Mayo / Rose or Rudy are the vote. Rudy is probably the most impressive - since he has done his damage in a lot less minutes so far and he is not the #1 option on his team (more like 3rd behind Roy and Aldridge).
I think Rudy has been most impressive, but the thing you gotta look at is that in this league, when they give out this award, they usually just give it to whoever is statistically better. I mean last year I thought Al Horford should've been ROY, I mean the Hawks did get to the playoffs and he played a big role in that. So as impressive as Rudy is, Derrick or Mayo will get it this year.
so far mayo has been scorchin teams but struggled vs houston, the only team memphis played who had good perimeter defenders. but vs teams that cant guard the perimeter he can get 30 pts, which for a rookie is not easy. he got 30 pts 2 games in a row. but rose has a chance to have one of the best rookie seasons in nba history. kirk is gone for 3 months which leaves the bulls backcourt thin, but rose can take this challange and become an all star pg in his first season. hes in the east, so that helps him, no offense.
Yeah he's been impressive for my expectations. O knew he wasnt gonna dominate the boards, But he's playing well not great but solid. Oh yeah rudy has definetly have to be up there as well. He's been playing great.
So far I would go with Rose, but after watching Oden the last 2 games I will say Oden with win the ROY, the starting center for the 6th seed in the West who looks like he will be averaging a double double with about 2 to 3 blocks is impressive.
If Rose continues to play the way he's played, I think it'll be hard to NOT give him the award. He had 23pts and 8assts last night and he's averaging 18.9ppg/5rpg/5apg...which is VERY impressive for a rookie PG...especially a rookie PG who supposedly doesn't have a great jump shot (which I'm not saying he does).
If Mr. Oden continues to play the way he is playing he will make a strong run at it. In his only 3 games that he has recieved significant playing time he is averaging just shy of 16/10/3blks. He should only get better as well The kid from GS though (Morrow) is absolutely ridiculous right now
I agree - but I just can't see any jump shooter retaining this kind of absurd shooting performance. Great find by GSW, however. Aye Karamba.
Am I the only one not jumping on the Morrow bandwagon? He's a one trick pony that relies completely on his jump shot. Hell, he's only had 2 really good games....yea. Sorry, but I think this kid is going to come down to earth here soon enough. No one can stay that hot for too long.
A shooter will always have a place on an NBA roster. He obviously won't win, but I think not counting him in the race right now is silly.
I don't think it's silly. He's only played in five games and had a significant impact in only 2 of them. I see no point in putting his name in there if he's not going to be there at the end of the season either.
