The knicks have a credible coach who warrants being a NBA coach because of past success.....The nets have Corky from life goes on at the helm.
FYI.... There was a Trenton Hassell, Keyon Dooling, Bobby Simmons, Edjuardo Najera and Brook Lopez line up in that Pacers game the other day. Opie put it out there, but changed his mind and Simmons was replaced by Carter.
I think the work he is doing this year will justify him in for being Good Coach category. When you have Nash, Marion, and Amare, I still think he had something to prove. To bring this Knick team to the playoffs, I will definitely be the first person to say I was wrong about D'Antoni. As far as better then Frank, I definitely agree as of this point of the season. The knicks look much better prepared. Now the question is who has more of advantage? Frank has been with the organization longer then D'Antoni. Atleast Frank coached 3 out of the 5 Nets starters before. D'Antoni got the bad news bears. Yeah the knicks have some good talent, but I still think the Nets are a much more talented team.
Of course D'Antoni's players "buy in" to his system. They don't have to work hard on defense and all of their stats will go through the roof. This guy made a borderline All-Star into a Hall-of-Famer. Even the dumbest player in the league notices something like that. Basically, he had them at hello. But is it the right system if you want to win a title? The Spurs, Pistons and Celtics all won by being the best defensive teams and putting the team's needs above personal stats and acheivements. The Suns couldn't play that way when it counted and they won jack squat. It's easy to get players to listen when you only tell them what they want to hear. Frank wants to play a team-first, tough, defensive system and the front office got him players like Dooling and Najera to create the atmosphere needed to develop the young guys to play that way.
If D'Antoni was coaching the Nets, he'd be giving Vince the Marbury/Curry treatment. This forum would be a really fun read.
Vince doesn't deserve to be in the same breath as those two. If you can't differentiate among them, well, goodness!
That line-up had Hayes not Hassell and was out there for 5 seconds before Simmons replaced by Carter. http://popcornmachine.net/cgi-bin/gameflow.cgi?date=20081108&game=NJNIND
Not an insult, just a statement of fact. Vince doesn't play a style compatible with D'Antoni's coaching style. There's a reason Steve Nash turned into an MVP, and Joe Johnson, Nate Robinson, and Boris Diaw turned their careers around, but guys like David Lee struggle. There are other coaches that would be better working with Vince, but not D'Antoni.
Really good analysis, that is exactly what Frank does. If I ever see Hassell out on the court with Najera, I'm just turning off my TV right there. Playing those guys in place of the youngsters is really not what this season should be about. At some point though, don't you have to look at their drafting the last few years? Marcus didn't pan out at all, Wright was borderline atrocious, especially with Granger available. Boone is best described as "serviceable." They gave away Korver who would have been a 2nd round steal for cash. Lopez fell to them and should be good, but they haven't had a draft pick really pan out since RJ. That was 8 years ago!
Knicks are slowly but surely turning into Phoenix of the East. 132! pts against Memphis tonight. I guess coach has something to do with this
you see what i am saying? frank has to go now!!! under him robinson lee and chandler would not be playing.
how do you draw the connection that the nixs are doing good therefore frank should be fired. The main reason the nixs are winning is because meburry is on the bench. 3 other coaches didn't have the balls to bench him before. Its called addition thru subtraction.
Frank plays Boone, Yi and Harris so what makes you think he wouldn't play them? Note: Boone has one less year of experience than Lee and Harris has one more than Nate.
he is forced to play boone yi and harris. chandler would get no minutes over richardson. frank would prob have james as the starting center. robinson would be buried behind duhon and whoever else. stop sticking up for this clown we have as a coach,
