I dunno, Phil is a crazy bastard. Personally, if we win a championship this year, I wouldn't be too surprised to see him step down. I mean, what more does he need to accomplish? He's done everything there really is for him to do at this stage. But in my opinion, he stays on for the remainder of his contract, so things might be interesting after next season.

Also, didn't Buss guarantee him some spot in the front office after he retires? Hopefully he'll be around to mentor our newest coach (hopefully Brian Shaw) in the future. Jennie won't let him leave! :]

That's bullshit. Who ends their career because of having to travel? Guess what Phil, all those places that you listed as far travel distances have teams that have to travel just as far when they have to play a game in LA. So there is no logic behind what you are saying.

Phil is getting old, he has hip issues, etc. Traveling is a valid reason to retire, given his circumstances.

Dude, Phil is talking about himself. Travel is tough on his old-ass body.

He has issues with his hips which makes travelling tough for him along with sitting on the bench during the season.

Part of him probably wants to give either Rambis or Shaw the opportunity to be head coach.

Whatever, we just need to send this old guy's ass on top and that's all that matters. Eat your heart out Red Auerbach.
