I still don't think Kobe does this until maybe when he retires from the NBA. He has too good of a situation here in LA for the future and for winning.

I really can't see him leaving the NBA, regardless of the cash. He's about championships and playing the best competition on a nightly basis, and he can get both of those in the NBA. If he defects to overseas, he may get money and titles there, but the competition goes downhill big time.

I bet he yanks the Bulls chain again too just for fun...before resigning with the Lakers. Kobe the drama queen.

He just wants to get paid, take care of it and we won't have to deal with this.

He'll probably go over there and have them wine and dine him, and also have a few NBA teams wine and dine him....probably talk about getting traded to the Bulls at some point, which will make Luol Deng stay up and cry at night, before re-signing with the Lakers.

Big deal, Bron won't even rule out an "ideal" scenario where he gets offered a bunch of cash from some Euro team. It is simply a pretext and not a very offensive one to me.

Didn't Kobe HIMSELF say that if he was offered $20 million a year to play in Europe that there would be no question, he would do it? No offense but it seems like a lot of Kobe fans are in denial about what is actually going to happen when this money gets put in front of him.

Yeah, and then it was noted that his statement was taken out of context, and that he was joking at the time when he stated that.

"Somebody throws us this question about playing overseas. I don’t want him to answer it. He’s a young kid; I don’t want him to take the controversial stuff. I said, ‘Well, if a team throws us $50 million, then we’ll all go.’ …It’s just something that was a joke for us, and people took it and ran with it or whatever. That’s fine. Everybody needs to banter about something. "

Seems like you're just coming in here trying to stir up shit and turn us all into chicken littles :NOTMARIS:

Kobe also said in another quote that he was only joking about what he had initially said about the Europe offers. We can only go by what we hear. I mean in this article it's "someone close to the Bryant camp", sounds sketchy to me.

"Someone close to the Bryant camp" also said he was going to be traded last offseason. Until the "someone close to the Bryant camp" is revealed, it's irrelevant to me. I can write an article about "someone close to the Bryant camp" says he has an early stage of testicular cancer, and will probably retire at the end of the season. Will you guys believe it?

I already gave an accurate summary of what is going to happen. Kobe is going to wine and dine in Europe, make Luol Deng cry, and then re-sign with the Lakers. Lakers fans have nothing to worry about.

Kobe to the Nets for the rights to LeBron James in 2010. Do it.

New article from TalkBasket.net gives some more info on the possible deal and perspective:

    http://www.talkbasket.net/blogs/olympiacos-bc-has-offered-kobe-3x-more-than-the-lakers-have.html

Pretty interesting, read the whole thing if you have the time.

I wonder if this "source close to Kobe" is Ric Bucher?

Interesting article Kobimel. I think they play half the amount games during their season as well correct?

One counter argument about players going overseas is the lack of guaranteed contracts, bizarre stipulations worded into them, and no NBA Players Union to protect a player's rights.

Those concerns have been documented by a few of the power agents in the US.

if he really wants the money, you can deny the appeal. its basically twice as much money for less years.
