Rudy is quickly becoming one of my favorite Blazers. Things just happen when he's on the court.. Jon Barry kept saying he reminds him of Ginobli.. and I agree...

Clutch shooting late in the games, very active on Defense, great court vision, etc..

    KP is a genius.

Agree Hank, Rudy makes the game fun to watch. What impressed me the most is his defense at the end of games. Although he's still not good about staying in front of his man, he creates turnovers/steals especially late in the game. I think he surprises teams with his quickness in the passing lanes.

    Rudy "El Diablo" Fernandez?

He reminds me so much of Petro, but with even more upside and skill.

Both 23 years old for rookie season.

    Rookie season for Drazen:

    .485 .459

    Rudy (so far):

    0.481 0.457

Is that eerily close or what?

Drazen improved, btw. Final year he played:

    .518 .449 .
52% for a jump shooter over a season where he is the main focus of the defense is *incredible*.

But Rudy is a much better defender and team player. Drazen was also always quite sloppy; he almost averaged 1 to/assist.

Rudy is better, though the shooting comparisons are spot on.

The homer in me says that Manu is alot like Rudy.

In reality, Rudy is unlike any other player in the league.

I can honestly say I love what Rudy brings to the team. The Pheonix Suns' management has to be on suicide watch right now.

Rudy is so much better than I thought he would be. I thought his physique couldn't handle the NBA and he'd get pushed around. I knew he could pass, but thought the speed of the NBA game would cause him to be a turnover machine. I love his effort on defense, and he moves better without the ball than any Blazer in recent memory. I thought he would be just a shooter--I was wrong.

I wonder if Robert Sarver ever thinks about a Nash + Rudy backcourt with Sergio learning at the feet of the master?

Wow. How glorious that would have been for Phoenix.

    Shucksy-darn.

The master of what? The master of not going to the NBA finals? The master of not playing defense? :biglaugh:

I *love* how he uses LMA posting up as a big screen to fake out his defender on the baseline. That's a classic playground move that seems to work every time

Phoenix still would've had to convince Rudy to come over even if they kept his rights.. and being how cheap they are, I doubt they would've put the full court press on like we did to get him over here.
But I do want to thank Phoenix for their cheap ways!

...that is when you hit her with this comment by emphatically stating [tongue firmly planted in cheek of course], "I have only made one mistake in my entire life" *then look sternly in her general direction* :devilwink:

I think he plays a lot like Petro, but Petro was no where near as important to his team as Rudy is to ours now.
