I just thought I'd share my joy. I'm pumped to see them. They've been my favorite band for about a decade now and I've been wanting to see them for about that long.

I'm really hoping it's a hell of a show and proves to be a good diversion to keep my mind off other shit that life has currently thrown at me recently.

Say what you want about Metallica JE...

They rocked last night. Big time. Probably the best performance from a band that I've seen. They played a lot of their classics and quite a few new tunes...and THANKFULLY, nothing off of St. Anger. I loved it, definitely worth the $60 I shelled out for tickets.

Yea dude, they were amazing. Off the top of my head they played...

The Ecstasy Of Gold (obviously, open every show with it)
    Broken, Beaten, and Scarred
    Nothing Else Matters
    One
    Master Of Puppets
    Wherever I May Roam
    Enter Sandman
    Sad But True
    This Was Just Your Life
    The Day That Never Comes
    Cyanide
    For Whom The Bell Tolls
    Seek And Destroy
    Four Horsemen
Two Garage Inc. tunes that I didn't recognize

I don't think this is the full setlist...but I could be wrong. They encored with the Garage Inc. tunes, closing out with Seek And Destroy. They were just...amazing. As I mentioned, they didn't touch St. Anger and also didn't play anything off Load or Reload. Best performance of the night, at least in my opinion, was One, followed by Nothing Else Matters.

Now that this concert is taken care of, I get to see Avenged Sevenfold this weekend. They're with Buckcherry, Shinedown and Saving Abel...though I don't know if they're the headliner or if it's Buckcherry. I'm hoping for A7X to be the headliner, but we shall see.

    ^LMAO!

I recall seeing that at a forum I used to post at cracked up when I saw it then. I love Metallica and all, but that's still damn funny.

On a sidenote...they really don't seem like the type of guys who would do their shopping at Armani...weird.

I think they're decent (a7x), but they definitely don't fit in with the Metallicas of the world.

$90 for tix...yikes. I paid $60...after a t-shirt and a drink, the show cost me $100 total. I also would have loved to see All Nightmare Long...so I was bummed that they didn't play that, it's my favorite song off their new album.

And quite frankly, there's nothing wrong with A7X. And give me a break here, because I was a fan of them long before Bat Country...the song that caused them to blow up in popularity.

I like Waking the Fallen, but they sold out, watered down, and embraced everything that is wrong with the music industry!

I don't really think they've sold out. The big reason why they changed styles was because Shadows (lead singer) blew a blood vessel in his voice box from the way he sang on Waking The Fallen and Sounding The Seventh Trumpet. So, his change was partially due to that (though he can scream again) and partially due to the fact that they had no intentions on staying with that sound to begin with. The direction they had intentions on going in is the direction they ended up going, and that was to mostly get rid of the screaming vocals and focus more on the actual singing aspect.

Plus, their music is still pretty heavy. Maybe not as much as it was back during WTF and STST, but it's still pretty heavy.

On a sidenote - they put on a great show on Saturday. However, I would venture to say that Shinedown might have stole that show.
