Anyone listen to this show? These two are complete jackasses! This morning they had Wheels on and Gavin went off about how disappointed he was in how Oden looks. Wheels tried explaining to him that he needs to have patience this kid just came off surgery and that after watching Amare come off the same surgery he didn't think he'd ever play at an elite level again. It sucks this is the best station to hear Blazer talk but these two are killing it for me.

They may not know anything, but they do at least talk about the Blazers and they do exactly what morning show talk jocks are supposed to do -- provoke a reaction. To prove my point, here you are on a message board talking about their show.

I know. After The Bald Face Lie with Canzano, this is easily the worst sports show I have ever heard.

I liked wheels explanation too. I have a lot of respect for him. I was wrong about greg starting. Like many I'm wanting to force greatness out of oden as fast as possible instead of letting it develop naturally

canzano was dead wrong yesterday about bobby gross. He doesn't understand this team or the city. We are not other sports franchises. That championship team was unlike any in sports. Retiring jerseys is a way for the team, city, and fans to uniquely honor the greatness associated with it. Greatness is in the eye of the beholder. He doesn't get that

That was kind of Wheels point. Saying something stupid to provoke discussion might be the way things are done now, but that doesn't mean that intelligent conversation won't work too. I understand that Gavin is not saying Greg won't ever be good. I understand that Greg's health has been disappointing, but to say that there is no reason for him to be so out of shape is idiotic. Yeah moron there is a good reason, he hasn't been able to run. Wait a couple of weeks before you question his work ethic. Questioning his durability is legitimate, but Wheel's point about the media building him up to tear him down is also legitimate. The media enjoys this shit. I personally think it is ridiculous.

I didn't hear it this morning, but generally Gavin's OK when he's not with CIP (which I think is a stupid nickname). When those two are together, they can get really annoying. But when Gavin is doing stuff like his Blazer podcast or the fifth quarter sometimes, he's fine to listen to.
CIP? The guy is a jackass.

Gavin is fine when he's balanced by Casey Holdahl and Dave from Blazersedge; he tends to defer to them and what they have to say, versus dropping his typically over-emotional (and overly cynical) analysis. As for Chad, the guy is awful ... and a Kobe/Lakers fan to boot.

He has been taking it pretty hard on GO lately. As much as it makes me sad, I kinda agree with him. Barrett and Rice and other team ppl have been ridiculous with raising our expectations, and honestly, from that buildup and the fact that he was the #1 overall pick of course he has been dissapointing from the 2 games he has played so far (which may be the most disappointing part of all).

The guy needs time, and we need patience, but if people like Barrett are going to keep up what they are doing, they are placing unfair expectations on Oden.

Overall, the morning sports page is probably my favorite show on the game... other than that I like the Wheels show, and then Oregon Duck shows and Blazer shows (courtside, pre-game, gametime, 5th QTR, etc...).

Gavin did this same tired rant yesterday, too. In addition to being wrong, and generally overly harsh on Oden, he also stated the Blazers, as a team have been a huge disappointment so far this season, That the expectations were for the Blazers to make the play-offs and that so far they have not looked like a play-off team (and that's in a large part, Greg's fault).

Not looked like a play-off team?????? They are 5-3, in spite of the toughest early season schedule in NBA history - and having injuries to two of their five projected starters. Oden has played 29 minutes and Martell zero in the first 8 games, and the team is still 5-3. They have wins against San Antonio - who won 57 games last season, Houston - who won 55, and a road win over Orlando - who won 52 games last season. They are currently tied with Houston for the 4th best record in the Western Conference. How, exactly, have they NOT looked like a play-off team?

I HATE it when paid professionals can't even get simple facts straight. If the Blazers were struggling without getting meaningful production out of Greg Oden, I could at least understand the reasoning behind his argument (I still wouldn't agree with it, but at least I'd understand where he's coming from). But, the team is NOT struggling at all. They DO look like a legitimate play-off team - and when Greg gets into game shape, it can lonely help.

I don't appreciate him being negative just to be negative. I understand the goal to generate controversy where none exists to boost ratings. It may actually work short term, but like Canzano, in my eyes it damages his reputation. It's blatantly transparent and will cause me to discount his opinions in the future. If he keeps it up, he'll also lose me as a listener - for the exact same reason I refuse to listen to Canzano's radio show or read his column.

Of course I understand their purpose is to provoke which usually means an increase in listeners. I don't personally listen for that crap. I normally tune in hoping to hear from Wheels or Barrett. I know these guys can be homers but they are extremely close to the team and actually see practice so it gives us more of an insider view.

My knock on these guys are their comments "Blazers don't look like a playoff team" (yet they are on a 4 game win streak, 2 in a row on the road), "GO looks horrible and I can't understand how a guy can be in that bad a shap" (no shit he's in bad shape he's coming off surgery and then a severe ankle sprain you can build up BB cardio when you can't run/play). They just seem to throw things out there without researching it better. Wheels mentioned that Amare looked absolutely attrocious when he first came back. I just wish the station would have picked a better morning show. I want to hear about the Blazers (good or bad) without having to deal with two assholes who hang up on you if your opinion is different than theirs.

Wow... just listened to the podcast of it.. usually on these interviews, Wheels just sounds montone and going through the motions but at the end, he really got fired up. Gavin really acted like an ass, and looked kind of stupid next to Wheels.

Then when Gavin felt he was getting embarrassed, he just cut Wheels off and Gavin had the last word and we didn't even hear Wheels say bye or anything. Ouch.
