Re: Kaman & Mobel To Be Traded? I understand that Kaman doesnt really fit in if the Clippers are going to run, but who would they really trade him for? The Clippers roster does not fit together at all, so why trade Kaman anyway? Baron is locked in at PG. You cant bring in another SG unless Mobley moves out, and that still doesnt allow Eric Gordon to develop. Trading for a SF creates even more problems with Thomas, Thornton, and Davis. PF could be an option, but why trade your best low post scorer only to move Camby to C? Trading Kaman makes no sense right now, given how poorly Dunleavy constructed this roster. There are way too many problems to fix, and trading Kaman doesnt help right now.
Re: Kaman & Mobel To Be Traded? I agree trading Kaman makes no sense for the Clippers, but I disagree about him not fitting with their system. Kaman slimmed down from last season and he actually runs the floor well for his size. He's been on the receiving end of Baron Davis lob passes because he can out sprint his defender down the court, and he knows Baron will reward him for running hard. Kaman also has a nice mid-range jumpshot to stretch the defense for Thornton or Baron to drive the lane. The Clippers need to improve their depth and just need time for everyone to get some familiarity with one another.
I think the Clippers need to retool their roster... In my opinion the roster is a mess and just seems like Dunleavy threw together a buch of talented guys who either are inconsistent, dont play hard, or take too many bad shots. Kaman has developed nicely, Baron is the team, Thornton is coming along, and Mobley is the team leader. However, Thornton takes a lot of bad shots... so does Tim Thomas... so does Ricky Davis... so does Baron Davis. They dont have a guy that is capable of being the glue, even though Mobley is the closest thing. They have too many guys who either need the ball in the hands to score or take bad shots. If you are building the team around Baron and Kaman that is fine, but Dunleavy needs to bring in the right pieces.
This team is poorly assembled, definitely. It's really just a mass of talent and no chemistry. I mean, individually, this team has a lot of talent. But where they have talent, they lack chemistry, which is far more important. They need to find a way to fix the roster, definitely. However, I don't know if trading away Kaman is the right move. He's a young center who's getting better and better every year and it would make no sense to trade him away unless you're getting an equally as good big or a spectacular wing.
elton brad leaving messed up the clippers............they'd be contenders right now had he stayed in LaLa land...........
I don't know if they'd be contenders but they would definitely be better. I think you still might have some chemistry issues arise too, with so many people that would need the ball in their hands.
The Bobcats (especially okafor) would really benefit in acquiring Kaman! It would be similar to shaq's effect on amare, when amare was able to move to a position more suited to him. Okafor would be a better PF than a C. But who would the clips get? G. Wallace? so the clippers big 3 would be davis, wallace and camby all of whom have had major injuries in the past... yikes... Maybe a 3 way with NYK involving Zach? Zach to LAC (to compliment Camby), G Wallace to NYK (But they have too many Forwards already), Kaman to Bobcats?
