If San Antonio offered Tony Parker for LaMarcus Aldridge (and fillers) would you do it? You get a 26 year old, elite, PG that would make our backcourt the best and most dangerous in the entire League. Losing LaMarcus would hurt, but if you have a chance at an elite guard like Parker you have to do it, right?
But, what would motivate San Antonio to trade Parker? If I were them, I only give him up if I have another point guard on the team that's greater than or equal to (they don't); or, if I can bring in a player that's greater than him (Aldridge currently isn't, but would they feel he could become as good or better). Nope. From their perspective I wouldn't do it. I'd demand Jerryd Bayless and Lamarcus Aldridge. That's a high price. A price I'd still pay if I'm Portland.
No. I can think of only one other PF who would pair with Oden better over the next decade and that is Chris Bosh. We don't need an elite PG for this team to be great.
If you were rebuilding, LMA and Bayless for Parker would make some sense. If (big IF) SA feels they are falling out of their title window, and could trade for some pieces who could be ready in a year or so, maybe they would. Duncan could tutor LMA. Best of all for Portland, you could have the French Connection in the starting unit, and the Spanish Inquisition in the second unit.
