This isn't much of an issue with Joel, but with Greg they need to practice feeding the post a lot more. I've seen a number of times where Oden seals off his man and he's wide open for a pass lobbed over the head of the defender. It's an easy dunk imo, but I don't think the players are confident in making that pass. It's not necessarily an easy pass, but it's there. It would open our offense up immensely.
GO is like a Formula One car. You may know how to drive, but it takes time to learn to handle the power you've never experienced before. Give it time and by the end of the season, we're going to have an inside out game that makes the mid-90's Rockets look like pikers.
Yes he was. He was good at going hard to the basket, have the defense collapse on him and dish a short pass under the basket. Brandon is currently the only one who drives hard to the basket that we have - and he seems to be better at finding the open man for a long ball out of the paint. Rudy is an upgrade from Jack - but he does not go hard to the basket as Jack did. We need to find Bayless some playing time.
Jack's turnover rate when he tried to do that was pretty high though. He didn't have nearly the same control as Brandon does when he attempts that move. That said, I think Sergio is proficient at getting the ball in the post, and it is probably something we should do more of.
Jack had a lot of problems - but he did feed the post better than anyone else on our team. Roy is a better player than Jack ever will be - and he can penetrate and finish strong at the rim as he does - but Roy just does not seem to do a great job of feeding the post players off the dribble. Sergio, in theory, could - if he was more of a threat going strong to the basket. Until he does that (and the Miami game was the first time I have seen him doing it in more than a year) - it will be very hard for him to feed the post consistently.
They know how to feed the post. The question is how much do you want to? At this point I am not ready to see them "over feed" Oden. (No pun intended). Give him a few touches no doubt, but I have bad memories of force feeding JaMaal MaGoire and suffering through the traveling and offensive foul calls. Don't get me wrong they need to go to him more (Eventually)but don't over do it. And Blake, Sergio, and Rudy all know how to feed the post.
